This may be stupid but this bugs me and tonight I noticed something odd. I'm a big guy, at 6'3 290lbs, and I'm obviously not all muscle but never had a problem with an uncomfortable seat belt in any Jeep. My JK was fine and our grand Cherokee is fine. My JLs seat belt is tight across my shoulder and I can bend maybe 3" before it hits the limit. Tonight my wife drove our JL and I rode shotgun. I noticed the passengers seat belt is comfortable. If I pull out the passenger side seat belt by the buckle it will touch the dash all the way across the Jeep in front of the steering wheel. The drivers side will reach the dash above the vent to the left of the display. Just curious if the drivers seat belt is shorter on everyone's JL?

I'm your size+a bunch and no issues with the fit of the seat belt.

I haven't compared it to other vehicles, but it does seem shorter, but not causing me problems. I haven't actually sat in the passenger seat.

Just tested mine and they are like yours. Passenger reaches the dash above steering wheel. Drivers reaches dash at left edge of 8.4” display.

The biggest issue for me is on the shoulder. I have a previously injured shoulder and combining the shorter belt with the increased height of the JL seat over the JK, it puts the belt pressing into my collar bone and isn't pleasant.

WTF is the point of that? Do they expect JL owners to have much fatter friends?

On the JLU, is the belt adjustable up or down like it is on the JK? You know, you can reach up and there is a mechanism where by you can move the belt so it lies higher or lower on your shoulder?

Yeah it's there but my shoulder is above it's highest setting.

That's an issue alright. Particularly if you start banging around on a backroad. As I'm browsing around the web I'll keep my eye out for an aftermarket thingy that might help.

A kinda silly idea that comes to mind is a piece of velcro looped around the side roll bar to hold the belt slightly off your shoulder. The idea of the velcro would be that it would easily break free under load so it shouldn't mess with the pretensioning in an accident and might still let the belt retract. Or possibly an elastic cord.
