Functional test drive this afternoon and very pleased. Alternator/generator plus solar was netting me 948w charging power. Solar panel generating 148w on its own not even directly aimed at the sun and up here at 47.6deg N latitude!

The output was the charging of the fridge onboard battery.

Decided to design and 3D print a fairing that wrapped around the solar panel. A more finished look that comes close to matching the hardtop, and gives my brick some aerodynamics. This came out great. Each piece simply snaps on the frame of the panel.

Two sections butted together here. Midspan seams are barely noticeable…

Had to design also to fit over the brackets in four locations…

Corner seams are a little more visible but that is a result of the aluminum extrusions not being perfectly square. The accuracy and tolerances of the 3D print are amazing…

Just an editorial update... loving the solar panel and going doors off and freedom panels off. Keeping the rear hardtop on keeps my solar power in place and provides a little bit of security for stuff in the back.

Finally got around to installing my ARB rear diff cover that has been sitting in the box for close to a year. Tore up the lower edges of the OEM cover on the Rubicon but it wasn’t leaking. I guess I need to wash the underside now. The cover looks out of place…

I think you need to just get the new one dirty instead of spending time cleaning the rest. Duh.
