When the mild, infamous corrosion finally becomes more noticable and unbearable, I'm considering having the doors stripped and using a coating on them similar to a truck bed liner spray instead of getting new shells and painting them. I think it might give it a good look also. Any thoughts if that'll work or suggestions for a "textured" coating that might work? The hood might get it also since I'm seeing some bubbles by the one hinge.

You would have to seal off the hinge from the door surface it attaches to. So the backside of the hinge would have to be coated also. If you can make that happen, that should work because no Hydrogen or Oxygen can get to the metal surfaces.

As far as I know, there are no hinges that fix the issue. There are ones with shims, but they don't stop the corrosion because the problem is the bolt, not the hinge. Coating the mating surfaces would help by not allowing the corrosion to form there because there's no hydrogen or oxygen to support the process.

The bolt is an issue, but not the only issue. There's also galvanic corrosion that occurs nowhere near (intentional) dissimilar metals.

It doesn't matter if it's near or far from the bolt, as long as it's on the same panel. The corrosion is an issue of electrical charge, which as i'm sure you know, can travel anywhere throughout the metal. So the bolt being steel and the door being aluminum causes the charge issue, and then the corrosion manifests anywhere on the panel where moisture is able to get to bare metal...and can then travel under the paint, as we also know well. So that's why you see people claiming its due to both the dissimilar metals, and shoddy paint work...because both are true.

Galvanic corrosion is just not that powerful. The hinges are attached to raw metal if the jeep, then painted over in the production process. One little crack in the paint allows the the raw aluminum to oxidize under the paint and the let the bubbles begin. I know there are a ton of folks who just want to blame galvanic corrosion, but the aluminum oxidation process is much faster. Just replace the hinges , seal the raw aluminum and use a marine grade grease on the bolts to satisfy the galvanic corrosion gods, and call it a day. The edge seams will experience additional issues unless you seal off the interior of the seam inside the door.

You will have to clean and coat inside the doors because it's coming from inside... Then sand the outside for your rhino lining

Yah, the hood hinge area has a small amount as well. That'll be on the list. Might go aftermarket with the hood. Would be nice if Jeep would do something about it beyond 5 years....
