Window sticker posts 19/24 (21 avg) mpg. Hard to believe with factory 35s and 4.56 gearing it would do this well. Anyone with real world experience?

Similar to Extreme Recon, you will be able to get the advertised MPG, if you drive at 55mph or under. In other words, keep the rpm at or under 1800. Once your speed climbs above 55mph, mpg suffers. At 70mph on flat surface, I get about 15 mpg on my Xrecon.

I figured it had to be speed dependent. Thanks for the confirmation. I’ve never averaged better than 18 mpg on any of my Jeeps with 35s. Granted that was with 4.10, 3.73, and 3.45 gearing.

Only if you drive less than the speed limit. I never seen manufactures MPG actually work in the real world.

I averaged about 16 with my 3.6 and 22 with 3.0

I routinely get 18-19 around town in mountains. When I live at low elevation and just city I got 17.5.

1200 miles into it I'm at 16.4mpg. All sorts of driving from highway, around town, 4 wheeling.

I read on another forum that the window sticker of the 2024 Rubicon X with the V6 and automatic transmission now shows EPA numbers of 16/19 MPG. That sounds a lot more realistic to me for a Jeep on 33s.

I have a Willys sport XR with the 4 cylinder and average 21-22 mpg. Most of my driving is 60 mph on county roads. Goes down a little in town or on the interstate

I have a ‘23 High Tide with about 1500 miles. My work commute is 48 miles round trip. About 46 of those are at interstate speeds of 70-75. I’m at 18.6mpg average over the last week of that drive.

Some other longer back roads where I can maintain around 60mph, I’ve been getting almost 21mpg as an average. The lifted brick factor seems to drop the mpg fairly quickly above 70mph :) for folks that drive in the 80mph range, I have little doubt that’d yield an average of 17mpg or worse.

Knock 10% off the advertised MPG and you’ll be in the ballpark for the real-world.

The short answer to this is that the model sent to the EPA for MPG testing didn't have the XR package on it, it had factory sport s wheels and tires. They don't have to retest and generate new numbers with the XR package, or any other tire and wheel package. The numbers would be lower if they had.

So no, it's not a realistic testing scenario. Your basic common sense analysis of the situation is correct.

I'm averaging around 18 with my Beach XR, mostly all short hops (less than 10 miles). A lot depends on the right foot.

No where close. If I hit the highway and actually drive 70-75, I get around 16-17. Now around town where we have longer stretches and can drive 50-60, Ive seen hit hit 19.
