so to unmarry the tazer (I don't own one) you have to be able to see the screen so you know what button to press next?

if that's the case, and the steering wheel buttons do work, can you try pressing the buttons on your steering wheel while someone else also presses the same butons on their jeep and tells you what their screen shows so you know what to press next?

Yes. The screen is needed to navigate through the various categories and sub categories.

What further complicates being able to navigate via a 2nd Jeep that also has the Tazer Mini, is what firmware version they have. I haven't updated mine in a year or so, and am not on the latest version. Some extra features have been added since my last update. Also, it's not uncommon to experience slight delays in the systems response to button presses, which can throw off the progression through the menus. And, sometimes, the Jeeps system doesn't recognize a button press when selecting a change, but does after the second attempt.

It's best to be able to see and confirm the reaction of the button presses on the specific Jeep.

Good thinking, though, and thanks for looking out!

Have you tried reaching out to Joe at ZAutomotive to see if they can send you a new file to download to your Tazer?

Updating to the latest tazer firmware isn't an issue. I don't personally own a computer, so every once in a blue moon I borrow the use of a family members laptop. I don't have any tazer glitches and don't have much interest in any of the features that have been added, which is why I'm typically not in a rush to update.

Infotainment.com offers lightly used dash clusters for $922. Part of their process is filling out a form with the necessary info that they program into the cluster before its shipped out. It's supposed to be plug and play. I was just trying to see if I could get a new unit instead of used, so that's why I asked Benny if there was anything he could do.

I don’t mean an update, I’m talking about a replacement flash file. Basically the way these things work is they store the factory software file and swap it out with the tune when marrying and unmarrying. So right now your Tazer has the factory settings stored in it and your Jeep contains the modified file. If you have the IPC replaced and software updated, the tune file would be partially overwritten. (That is assuming that the cluster is modified at all by the Tazer)

As for the new/used thing, the Mopar part is very likely to be a reman.

Yes, that's half the reason to not just leave the Jeep at the dealer. With the tazer married, any software update that they may add could possibly get intertwined with the tazer. If in the future I happen to unmarry for some reason, the stored factory "tune" would be reset. That could lead to loss or corruption of any dealer updates.

The other half of why I'm trying to avoid the dealer, is their requirement to leave the Jeep in their unsecured lot for an unknown amount of time.
