I am mostly interested in the rear section but don't want to eliminate the possibility of adding the front at some time. For the rear, did you put any spacers under the base? The floor is not flat of course. The plastic bin (mine is 392 so that storage is very small) sits above the rest of the bed. The two strips of support that almost seem to be randomly placed are on the same plane with the top of the plastic bin.

Yes. I used spacers. I cut notches in them and such to ensure a level foundation and then glued those to the underside of the platform. I attached a picture and put a red box around the rear platform. It's flipped over so you can see the spacers.

I addressed that issue by putting washers around the screw holes that had gaps. That let me tighten those down as much as I needed.

Any method that works is probably a good method. So, no one way to do it.

There are not many screws to hold the plate down. I wanted the platform stiff and well supported when we stand on it. My plate rests more on the greater surface area of the stringers then probably the case resting on washers But you have to decide that for yourself.

Thanks @FRV I got my initial template done today. Will cut the platform from some 3/4 that I already had tomorrow. I've done a bit of experimenting with spacers and will use 1/2 inch for the deepest areas and various thinner pieces in other areas. I wanted to extend the drivers side over farther but if I put a slider on that side it cant go that far over because of the tailgate latches. Still figuring out the jack space cover. I would not mind keeping the stock piece as long as I can get it out. I think it will work.

I recommend you avoid using 3/4" ply if you can. It is overkill and unnecessarily heavy.

I can post a photo of the jack compartment cover if it will be useful to you.

I agree 3/4 is probably overkill but I have two nearly full pieces that are very nice and I don't really have any other use for them.

If you can post pics of the jack compartment cover that you have not already that would be great.

I'm guessing you used 3/4 inch spacers with 1/2 inch wood?

Yep. 3/4" ply supports glued to the bottom of the plate. Attached are pictures of the jack compartment cover. It slips under the plastic lip just like the original. I made it with 1/2" ply glued to a 2x4 which I milled to get the correct profile on a table saw. You could also cut it with a router or hand planes if you got 'em and know how to use 'em.
