Not a wrangler but a pacifica hybrid. Hopefully the systems are the same or similar. I posted on the pacifica forum but crickets.

dealer said we needed new brakes. They wanted $700 for pads and to turn the rotors. I knew i could get high quality pads and rotors but couple hundred bucks. I googled how to change the brakes and only found regular pacifica. I did the standard brake job, no issues.

afterwards, ive got multiple warning lights and the regen braking isnt working.

1 CEL
2 collision avoidance
3 smart stop
4 regen braking

the tpms issue was separate and corrected

i scanbed the codes and got:
U1852 and a couple of other codes my code reader apparently cant read. I tried erasing the codes but they wont clear.

Did you disconnect or damage a wheel speed sensor cable?

Did you damage or disconnect a brake line while moving the caliper? Any brake fluid leaks? Is the reservoir full?

Did the messages and codes come right away after starting, or did they come on after driving a while?

Do the brakes work well and smoothly?

My wife's blazer was squealing. It only had 30,000 mi on it and the brakes looked fine. I pulled the Wheels off took a look at the pads took the look at the calipers. While I was looking I must have moved the calipers. Chevy, as I'm learning many other brands do as well, now have sensors built into the calipers some have them on the pads and others built into just the brake system itself.

My slight movement of the calipers caused the vehicle to go into limp mode throw all sorts of vehicle codes relating to brakes traction control leaking brake system you name it. Took the car to the dealership at 42 mph, the limp mode speed, and they reset the code.

Basically they told me the only way to adjust the brakes or change the brakes on the vehicle was you had to have the software to reset the system. He told me that the ones with the pad sensors need special software that only a dealership may have to reset the padware sensor.

I am guessing you're dealing with something similar to this.

U1852 and a couple of other codes my code reader apparently cant read. I tried erasing the codes but they wont clear.
I did a quick search on the code and found this page: https://u1852.enginefaultcode.com/
The 5 in the code would indicate that it was the TPMS but you say corrected..

I would consider a better code reader that also resets. Scotty Kilmer was raving about a new code reader on his Youtube channel and it was around $100.
He works on a ton of Toyotas and loves them. Maybe do another post in the Toyota forum about code readers to see what others are using.

I have never done a brake job, so no comment there, however, over last 3 weeks I added a bunch of stuff to my 4Xe and dealt with fare number of codes thrown at my face for no apparent reason.

I mean all kind of codes starting from power steering, coolant, brakes to low voltage in the system... you name it, it was there. My $20 amazon bought code reader read most of it, couldnt clear much. Some are permanently stored. whatever, but i got it working. I have also heard that some codes can only be cleared by the dealer with their fancy tool. Donno.

Just because it says something to do with power steering, doesnt actually mean jack, I had nudged a fuse in the fuse box in the process and one of the codes was power steering among 6 of them thrown at me, the other 5 had nothing to do with power steering.

What I am getting at is, retrace everything you did, every component you were near. My bet is you knocked a sensor loose. Check all sensors, push them back where they are. takes a long time, but after doing that for about 3 hours, I got rid of all the CEL. it's frustrating unless you can actually narrow down what the heck it is trying to tell you.

Im pretty sure the hybrid has specific rotors that differ from the standard rotors. What rotors did you use? Many Amazon rotors state hybrid but they're not this shows oem rotor pricing

i used rotors from Napa. they did not specify hybrid or regular. the brakes are working fine.

my wrangler is in the body shop for a car accident. i asked them about it and they said it probably needs to be reset. they said they have a company that goes to all the shops to working programming issues. i dropped it off yesterday for the guy to stop by and check it out.

guy said he needed to calibrate the abs and reset the programming for the brakes system. $300 and done.

so i spent $600 all in to do the brake job myself with all new pads and rotors (best they had) vs the dealer wanting $700 for new basic pads and turning the rotors... ill be getting rid of this thing before it needs brakes again. some nasty out-of-warranty stories out there..

it has another code for hybrid cooling pump. back to the dealer it goes.....

Just fyi, if you’re posting this it’s because it’s too late, but you must put the electric brake controller in service mode before manually pressing in the calipers. To do this, you either need the software tool, or it can be done via Uconnect. Sounds like it’s too late now, but that’s where the high dealer price comes from.

From what I read about the service mode it is only for the rear wheels and only on vehicles that have an electronic parking brake. Putting it into service mode retracts the electronic piston that clamps the brake pads down so that you can push the hydraulic piston back into the caliper to swap out worn pads, etc.
