You don't hear about the guys running that set up in their rigs for a reason. If you're trying to do a budget my recommendation would be do the Mopar lift 2.5" It's by no means a great lift but Mopar will have your back and keep you fully under warranty if there's ever any issues another good thing is most say it's more like a 3 and a 1/2 inch lift. If you just want a good quality one time without breaking the bank just do the Metal cloak game changer with the Rock Port shocks your backed buy a very reputable company execelent customer service with lifetime warranty. If you want the best of the best definitely go Clayton. Both the metal cloak and the Clayton have specific to the diesel application. Another thing I learned is if you go to an authorized dealer for both of these often their price is much better than you buying it and taking it to them. And if you find a good shop that keeps the dealer and the manufacturer readily available to your needs and/or upgrades and/or failed components. Especially convenient when there's warranty issues just make sure it's an authorized dealer installer. JMOHello all, looking to have the sky jacker black max shock lift installed. Your Willys looks amazing ?i put 2.5 Rock Krawler springs on my diesel.. rides great.![]()
I started with the entry 2.5" kit with shocks on mine (only front upper control arms). It did well out in Moab. I'll be picking up more control arms in the coming months. And upgrading the steering. And a bunch of other stuff as time and budget allows.Just checked out the Clayton lifts. Although I was drooling over the components my budget is not there. And for what is in my budget it does not include shocks. But oh boy those Clayton items are a thing of beauty ?
I'm looking at putting the 1.5" ride right, bump stops and fox shocks on my JLUR diesel. The 1.5" should be more like 2" and I only plan on running 35s.Just checked out the Clayton lifts. While there certainly are outliers on both ends of the spectrum, I think you’d be surprised on the consistency of part costs when you compare items from different manufacturers separately (springs vs springs, control arms vs control arms, etc.).Just checked out the Clayton lifts. Gotcha. Well said. As the saying goes “buy nice or but it twice”While there certainly are outliers on both ends of the spectrum, I think you’d be surprised on the consistency of part costs when you compare items from different manufacturers separately (springs vs springs, control arms vs control arms, etc.).
Shocks, however, vary a ton in price, from $50 twin tubes to $1000+ bypasses. That’s one of the reasons the super lift is cheap in comparison, twin tube (foam filled?) cheapo shocks.
