Caution there are many factors in play that will drive diesel fuel well beyond $8.

There is a huge bubble coming with imo Regs that require low sulfur diesel and not adequate production for boats. This means the sweet diesel will got to boats and leave crappy diesel that requires a lot of processing, read costly, left for diesel owners.

Crude is expected to hit $200 per barrel by 2020.

Interesting. I don’t know much about this stuff.

Have any links you can share so I can read up?

So what do we do? Sell our gas jeep and buy diesel when oil prices fall? It would be a stretch to base vehicle purchase decision on oil price market. Oil prices go up and down all the time for warious reasons. Get what you need for your type of driving. Just my opinion.

It's interesting, diesel in Aug 2018 was $3.15 per gallon and today it's $2.18. Oil is under $40 per bbl. Even when diesel was over $4 per gallon, I have never regretted owning a diesel. I do not see that changing any time soon. Cost per mile is still cheaper than gas.

I know our taxes are near $.50 per gallon for state and federal is near $.25 per gallon.

We have maybe six Costcos in the Valley. The one 7 miles from me is the only one that sells diesel. I checked a few days ago and it was $1.69 while the stations closer to me were in the mid-$2s.

EDIT: make that fourteen Costcos in the Valley, but still only one with diesel.

So far on my trip back from Michigan, the most I’ve paid is $2.39 in Traverse City to as low as $1.99 in the Michigan UP. It’s been anywhere in between on the rest of our travels through the upper mid-west.

The thing that will make fuel prices soar in 2020 is if Trump loses in November. If that happens, everybody is going to be living on a tight budget. 'Merica.
