Hello! New JL owner here. I apologize in advance for any noobish questions, but here’s my concern.

When first shopping around for my JL the two things I wanted were the 6speed manual and anti-spin diffs. However in my excitement and shopping around, I completely forgot about the anti-spin option when finalizing my deal.

Too late now, but I was reading around and read that one of the perks of the anti spin was the upgraded 3rd gen dana 44s. Did those come as an option w/o the anti spin? Also just how big of a factor will the anti spin make in snowy states like MA?

Thanks in advance

We don't have LSD or lockers and when you put it in 4LO it is still a BEAST. You will most likely be fine, the new transfer cases are awesome, the best yet. If you're freaking out about it go to a local gear shop and poney up $700 and get one installed.

I wouldn't think you will have a problem this winter. the least capable wrangler is still far better than almost any other vehicle in snow or off road. As far as what you have on your jeep, I would recommend going to the jeep website and requesting a build sheet. You'll need to have your VIN handy when sending the email, but this will take all of the guesswork out of the equation. They responded with mine in a couple minutes and it is really nice to know, for sure, what parts went on my jeep.

Look, the limited spin diff would have been better, but what's done is done and cant be undone. So stop beating yourself up, get a cheap set of chains and toss them in the back each winter to strap on the rear tires in the very unlikely event that your Jeep ever gets stuck. Ten years from now you can sell the unopened unused chains on Craigslist. That is cheap insurance and good peace of mind. Take the remaining $450 that you saved and spend it on some other upgrade.

This discussion about LSD and snow keeps coming up, but who are the people that are driving unplowed roads? Whoever they are, they’re a small population.
I live in the Denver metro area and the DOT does a pathetic job of keeping the roads clear. I got the JLUR in Feb and since then I have already driven it through 6-8" unplowed roads at least four times. I'm usually on my way to work when the plows are working on the interstate, and the side roads aren't even a thought yet.
