I plan on getting this rearview mirror dash cam based on reviews that I'd found in these forums. Consider something like this if you're planning on having a larger spare and still want to see what's behind you.

One of the issues with those, is it interferes with the visors.

I used a Thinkware Q800 with rear camera for almost 3 years, and it ran flawlessly and never had a hiccup. I think I got the combo for $300 with the hardwire kit. I recently upgraded to the Thinkware U1000 4K with rear camera and hardwire kit, and installed the Q800 in my wife's 4Runner. Simple swap except I had to switch out the usb cable that runs to the rear camera. Again- solid camera and definitely worth the investment. I also added the Thinkware iVolt Battery to both my wife's 4Runner and the Jeep, and it now runs 24/7 without any worries of battery drain. It was originally a toss-up between the Q800 and the BlackVue equivalent at the time, and the Thinkware edged out and was a bit cheaper. Very happy with the decision/purchase. I had a Thinkware F800 pro in my old '18 JLUR... mounted behind the mirror, so it was completely inconspicuous. Hard wired in the paneling just above the rearview mirror. It performed great... the only downside is the video is so stable that those treacherous trails you were on, look like a ride in the park compared to how they felt.

It performed great... the only downside is the video is so stable that those treacherous trails you were on, look like a ride in the park compared to how they felt.

That's when you need someone in the passenger seat trying to take a video on their phone while trying to keep it stable! Comparing the mounted dash cam and handheld video is hilarious.

BlackVue 590x front and rear. Camera works great. The BlackVue app for me is abissmal, but I don’t much need the WiFi feature as I will just remove the SD card and upload to my phone with an iPhone card reader if necessary.

I used the Quadratec harness to hardwire it to the front 12V outlet.

Yes, that is true. But I think I may be able to expand the field of view by moving the position below the rearview mirror, but at this time it serves my purpose as evidence for insurance purpose from someone sneaking in front and doing brake checks, traffic lights violations etc.
Vegas drivers are one of the worst in the country. 21 years ago when I moved from St. Louis, MO to Las Vegas, my auto insurance nearly doubled just because of the change in zip code.

Thank you. I am using this one - I had to cut from the groove on both sides to make it narrower to fit in the front center console and reinforced the base with some double sided 3M sticky dots.

yeah, did a really nice climb on a 31-32 degree hill... as the driver the only thing you could see was the clouds... and talk about "pucker factor", whew! Reviewed the dash cam footage later and it was boring to watch because it so stable, it looked like a walk in the park...
