Are things like this (or a DIY version) necessary if you might get caught in drenching rain while topless/doorless/naked? I've found some older forum posts on the subject, and the water resistance of the electronics in JLs seems to be unproven/debatable.
From the DashPoncho site:
"30 minutes of a downpour... Over the next week, the stereo started glitching in and out and finally went utterly blank ... I found my electronic 4×4 / lockers were not working—the module was also corrupt... my warranty did not cover rain damage to the LCD or stereo. My electronics cost almost $2,000.00 to replace."
