Hello all! I’ve been a casual lurker on this forum for the past few months now and I’m finally getting around to posting a build page after a little over 2 months of ownership.

I purchased my 2021 JLUR in Bright White on October 8th, 2020 after trading in my 2017 Ford Mustang GT. I absolutely LOVED that car but ultimately decided it was time for something more practical and useful for my needs and I had always wanted a Jeep Wrangler. After a test drive, I was sold on getting one and took the plunge. I originally planned on getting the new Bronco, and was among the many who submitted a reservation when it was first announced. I ultimately decided to go with the Wrangler and I’m glad I did because I love it.

Rather than a serious “build” like many of the other rigs on here, most of my mods will be purposefully minded and tasteful additions. No rock crawling for this Jeep, but I do intend on doing quite a bit of overlanding next year so most of my mods will be geared towards that. Cheers!

Back in October when I drove it off the dealer lot. Next to my old Mustang, which I still miss at times.

I love white JLUs and I hope to do something similar to what you described. What are your plans?

Fire extinguisher and hi-lift mount both mounted on the roll bar. Now I just need the jack. The plastic pieces that mount back on need to be trimmed a bit on the edge for it to fit properly over the hi-lift mount.

I've had some fun with the Jeep the last two weekends! Ventured out to Peter's Mill last week and then Frederick Watershed this week. Not rigorous trails by any means, but both were still enjoyable nonetheless. Next on the list is Rausch Creek and Assateague, which I actually may visit next weekend... now that I'm following some of the MD Jeep FB groups, I'll hopefully start doing some more group outings.

I was damn near close to pulling the trigger on some new wheels for the build, but I think I'm going to keep the stock Rubicon wheels and move up to 35s. I've essentially narrowed my choices down to NITTO Ridge Grapplers, Falken WildPeaks, and BFG KO2s. Considering the Jeep is my daily driver, I'm really aiming for a setup that can be comfortable for the long commutes, but also perform off-road or in inclement weather when I really need to. Unfortunately, it seems that 35x12.5r17 tires are delayed everywhere so I'm not sure about timeline and when I'll likely get them on the Jeep.

Tires ordered! Pretty much none of my choices were available in the size I was going for so I ended up ordering Mickey Thompson Baja ATZP3s at 315/70r17. The local 4WP I ordered through already got in touch with me to discuss fitment and install so now just I just gotta wait on the tires to arrive at their store. Will update once I get installed.

Well so much for sticking with the stock wheels....

Decided to go with Method 701 wheels which are sitting on 35” Mickey Thompsons with 1.75" spacers and stock suspension. Better pictures to follow!

Method 701 Matte Black Wheels (17x8.5 / 0 offset)
Mickey Thompson BAJA ATZ P3s (LT315/70R17)
G2 Hub Centric Wheel Spacers (1.75")
Iron Cross Tire Relocation Plate
Pro Comp Lug Nuts

It’s been nearly 6 months since my last build update and there’s been quite a few additions/changes to the Jeep since I last posted. I’ll be covering all the new additions as well as future plans I have for the build in my next video. If you haven’t watched my last video, be sure to check it out on my YouTube channel in the link provided above. I’ll also be going a bit more in-depth on my overall experience with the Jeep after nearly 10 months of ownership. Thanks for following the build!
