Anyone find a particular dash cam that works well for your vehicle? Not sure whether to power it with just the outlet or have it permanently wired.
Also, If you have a front facing Jeep trail cam, can you use it like a dash cam? Read there's some limitations trying to use it on-road or at certain speeds?

I use a Kenwood front and rear dash cam. Iā€™ve connected it to my auxiliary ignition wire located in the passenger footwell if you have the electrical group and it automatically turns on with the jeep and starts recording.
No, you cannot use the trail cam as a dash cam.

I use my iPhone with "Driver" app. All you need to do is buy a phone mount or stand in the center dashboard console. Working great.

Iā€™m running an Aukey DR02. Originally mounted on my JK. These use a Sony camera sensor, and work great at night. Wiring is taped via black electrical tape to the little inner channel in the A pillar, running down to the OBD-II port for power. Canā€™t see it from my seating position. Pictures in spoiler text.

To my knowledge, only Teslas have built in dash cam functionality across all models. GM had it in some Cadillac and Corvette models - not sure if they still offer it. I think itā€™s a great idea. I hope it gets wider adoption in the future, as more cars come with frontal and surround vehicle cameras.

Thanks, pretty slick looking install! Could that be coordinated with a rear facing camera too?

That's a simple and smart solution! Easy way to get started. Have to checkout the app. Thanks.

Thx! Appreciate the note on the trail cam.

I use a Rexing dash cam I picked up from Amazon a couple of years ago. I've had it in 3 different vehicles. Works fine as a dash cam. Not sure if it would work as a trail cam though.

I have a Viofo Duo Plus and it is plugged into the outlet. I'll eventually hardwire it and add parking mode. I have a GoPro set up inside for trail rides but usually move it out onto the passenger corner of the windshield for better shots.

I think the Rexing V won't fit without a mount adapter. Your model does and the Viofo has a similar form factor

I use the Garmin Mini 2 with he Garmin Constant Power via the OBD. I like that if it fails, itā€™s a simple replacement and itā€˜s cheap.

This is how I have it mounted, itā€™s on the Diabolical visor shelf. So I could still lower the windshield. I donā€™t notice it and itā€™s super simple.
