Damaged tire sidewall

I have the 33" Rubicon Trail TA KO2 tires on the Jeep. We curbed it and put a small gouge in it. The piece of rubber is 1/4' thick in the pics below. I super glued it back together NOT for integrity but for aesthetics.
Just looking for some reassurance this is not an issue in terms of sidewall integrity.

Bummer. I believe the strength of the sidewall comes mainly from the ply material in the sidewall. From your shot it does not appear that the ply material in the sidewall was damaged.

Also a gouge on the side of the rim . Just check tire pressure once a week , that's all . Don't let a dog bite it and tear it away . My school had a dog mascot named "tirebiter" .

The piece is only rubber, no ply material came close to being shown so I don't think that is a problem. The rubber piece is already glued back down so you cna't even tell by looking at it other than the nasty rim gouge.

That's why you purchase 5 tires at once , so you'll have a spare .

Would you guys consider this to be a major issue? Picked this up on a recent trip through Death Valley, only noticed after I washed my car. Not sure if the white I'm seeing is the same as the white for the lettering or if this is something more concerning. Thanks!

You're fine. The white is most likely from the lettering. Our tires are worse we even have a 1/8 to 1/4" "flap" that occurred in the top layer of rubber.
You could shave that entire letter off the tire and be fine. Were you aired down?

Thanks, that's what I figured. I was aired down to 15 psi, just lots & lots of sharp rocks on those DV trails

Ah BFG’s same thing happened to me I would run Maxxis Trepador bias ply’s but your lucky to get 25,000 miles out of them so next best thing Toyo open country mt’s

I was just about to post the Trepador 42X14.50R17 is radial as most place like this link list them as R17, but on further inspection, it's a bias tire having major off road advantages to radial.

That might be ok on a trail only rig, BUT if you drive highways I’d want a tire with a higher speed rating.

Ummmm yeah... you don't want to run those puppies on the road. They are expensive and super soft and will wear very quickly on the road. They aren't intended for road use, hence the bias design and 65 mph max speed rating.
