Since I’m running long travel shocks with 3.5” coils, my rear springs come loose when both sides of the rear axle droops together. When I stuff one side and droop the other they stay tight. So I would only have a problem if I get airborne, not likely, lol, but it’s also a pain in my ass every time I put it on the lift for anything.

I really didn’t like the idea of putting limiting straps on or near the shocks or springs, didn’t want to have to worry about what they might be interfering with when they were folded, or bunched up at ride height. Also I didn’t want to limit my droop by an inch or so either.

Sooo…. I decided to do one limit strap in the middle or close to the middle. Since I have the truss on the rear diff that the upper control arm hooks to, I decided to weld in a bushing in one of the holes in the truss….. and there’s a threaded hole in the frame…. Not sure what it’s for….maybe they set up the frame rails for the fuel tank to go on either side…..
Ride height…….

I dropped the rear wheels out two different ways and I’ve got plenty of slack both ways.

That down travel is insane my friend! I'm surprised the shocks are not limiting the down travel and matching up closer to expanded spring length(ie. keeping them in there perches)?

Anyone know if a 3.5" MC spring would have a longer expanded length?

I think your limiting strap setup will work, as long as you're not bombing along Pre-Runner/Trophy truck style, and the axles are dropping down with a lot of force/momentum. Looking forward to seeing how this works out.

Thanks man….. no intentions of trying to keep up with trophy trucks… 🤣 …..

The MC springs are 1” longer than the RK, so they would perform similarly….. I have a 1/2” spacer in the front so that helps the front springs stay put. When I’m on the lift with both sides drooping my springs stay put…

The shocks are 31” extended in front and 33.25 in the rear. I’m right at 5 inch of up travel so I’m as far as I’m gonna go with coils and springs. I’ll likely move up to coil overs if I want to increase shock travel. But for now, while I’m on 37s this is good enough for me………she’s extremely nimble….

@blnewt , Brad, congratulations are in order, the Avs did it…….. no three peat for the bolts…. The Avs looked fast, like the fastest team I’ve seen this season. I didn’t get to see them during the regular season. If the bolts couldn’t win, the Avs are my second choice. We followed them when we lived in the Springs for a few years……..

Yeah, it was a wild ride, and the bolts sure gave me cause for concern, I thought for almost sure that it was going 7. Glad the Avs got it done, 21 years seemed much longer than it actually was. Hopefully they can keep most of their UFAs, or at least enough to get them back to the finals again :) Was a great overall NHL playoffs this year, I think the league is built for some great years ahead, unlike the NBA which is a bunch of whining prima donnas (IMO).

Your Jeep is looking wicked badass btw, nice work as always!!

Ok curious minds need to know. What does the strap do?

1656876067120.png
I have longer shocks than I’m supposed to have with my 3.5” springs , so when both wheels are off the ground at the same time my springs fall out…the strap is holding the axle up so springs stay tight. I did one in the middle instead of one at each shock so I wouldn’t lose any articulation……

I found for me, it works best when inline with tie rod as much as possible. Synergy track bar bolt and Fox tie rod clamp. Washers to straighten and level it up best I can….. works great

@Caymanedge …. Did you do the Artec truss on front axle ? Been almost 2 years since we discussed it ? Do you have any issues with clearances or anything else unexpected ? Pics would be awesome…….. I’m thinking about doing this the same time I regear…….. Thanks

Edit:
Anyone that happens to stumble in here with Artec truss on front Dana 44 axle please chime in …….. Appreciate it……
