Well, became initiated in the jeep world today and had a rock hit the windshield. A few hours later it developed into a nice little crack in the shape of a J. Question i have now, is the windshield under warranty for replacement? It's gorilla glass so I'd like to stick with that since it's also a lease.

When you replace it make sure to tell them you want an OEM, I am in insurance and I have seen them try to put after market in and they do not have the Jeeps and stuff many people like. If you request it, since the after market windshields do not have those "Easter eggs" they have to use the OEM.

My insurance initially declined Mopar Gorrilla Glass, original from factory, offered 3rd party gorilla glass. CA allows insured to select shop at their own discretion, so I selected the Dealership who only installs Mopar parts... win.

the warranty for Gorilla Glass is very limiting WRT size of the damage they will cover, but some dealers seem to have better luck getting it covered than others.
check with your dealer before it spreads further (because it can spread quickly!), but odds are it’s already technically too big.

I just got Racing Optics yesterday to hopefully prevent rock damage. It is so clear that I can’t even tell I have the protection on my windshield. Much cheaper than a new windshield especially since I have adaptive cruise control which is an extra charge during replacement.

Call or visit your dealership. The first replacement within the first two years is supposed to be covered under warranty. For some people that was easy / simple, but for others it was no way in hell.

Since you don’t own it I would do the cheapest. If I owned it OEM glass is what I stick with

it's strange they want to charge more for the adaptive cruise control when the unit isn't even attached to the windshield, or am I incorrect on that? Doesn't it stay fixed even if the windshield is folded down?

I do think so as I have never folded the windshield down.

You're not incorrect. Lots of shops will try to charge to have the adaptive cruise calibrated, but unlike (just about?) all other vehicles it's not even connected to the windshield.

Good to know! I wonder if you could dispute the calibration?

I’m waiting to see if this is covered. The dealer took photos and sent them in for approval. The 2 year warranty for gorilla glass says larger than 1” and less than 3” for it to be covered.

I would have that filled as soon as possible to prevent further cracking. most likely a good chip repair it won't be visible just in case they don't replace it.

If they don’t your insurance will probably cover it. Mine did. Cost me $100 for factory glass. You pay more for gorilla glass but it’s not much better than stock
