Has anyone in the forum used the Costco Auto program to buy vehicles? Seems like a great deal! Built 2 door JL Rubicon Recon on website to my specifications. Just wondering how good the experience was using this.

Could save at least another $1500 going with the right dealer.
Thanks for the input. This dealer it requests has nothing but praise from my friends. I’m getting a little ahead of the game since I’m looking to order around January 2021. Holding out hopefully for Gobi to make the jump to the JL.

I thought I saw on here somewhere that Costco is only 1% below invoice. Is that true?

What the website is giving me is 2.5% off invoice guaranteed hassle-free but dealer can always beat recommended price or so I’ve heard.

If you spend some time around here, you’ll see that anything less than 7% below invoice is not a good deal.
Thanks for the advice! From invoice and your input I should be looking for coming in around 46.6k when dealing?

Yeah if that’s the invoice price. There’s a sticky here that has current prices of options for order/build sheets that was last updated in March I believe.

11-12% off MSRP before TT&L (6.25% in Tx) and doc fees (no more than $300) is a great deal.

Neighborly advice: don’t go to Frisco Jeep. The sales manager wouldn’t go beyond $2,200 off a $48k Wrangler. He told me they sell Wranglers at or near MSRP because people buy them. And this same attitude is fairly consistent across other dealers here in the DFW.

Thanks for the heads up! I’ve been getting a lot of referrals to Classic in Denton from friends and that is where Costco is referring me too. The DFW market is tough on Wrangler negotiations since people are just buying them as is. I was thinking 8% off MSRP guaranteed with possibly more through this program is way better than a lot of dealers capping out at around 4%-2%.

No problem! And true, most dealers here won’t budge on pricing without much headache.

After similar experiences with several dealers, I gave up and looked out of state. I ended up ordering from Criswell Jeep in MD. Their pricing was no nonsense and I had them spec out two proposals, one for a Rubi and one for a JLU Sport.

MSRP was $61k for the Rubi and $51k for the JLU Sport. Criswell offered to sell the Rubi for $52k and the Sport for $44K. They showed me all of the pricing, including msrp, invoice, friends and family, doc fees and everything else without me having to ask.

After seeing all of the numbers it became real to me and I modified some of the options on the Sport that I ended up ordering because I needed to find a reasonable price that met my needs and fit my budget.

While I wanted the Rubi and it was such a great price, I couldn’t justify paying for the features of the Rubi that make it what it is, knowing that I know I would never use.

When I got to the financing office, they surprised me even more and gave me more money towards my purchase without me even having to ask or knowing about. At the end of the day, buying from them was one of the BEST shopping experiences and one of the purchases that I’ve ever had of a vehicle.

Let me know if you have any more questions.

Yeah local dealers aren't budging much around here. Hm, would you think the same situation is worth it from SoCal? Ordering from Criswell at 8% invoice (I'm assuming?) and either driving back or getting it delivered to CA somehow or staying local and ordering from Coastline at 5% invoice.

MSRP: $58,040
Invoice: $54,687
5% below: $51,952.65
8% below: $50,312.04
Difference of $1640.61 before TTL.

Sales Tax: 8.75% for my county, CA doc fee: $85
After sales tax, registration fees, and doc fees for either scenario; difference of $1,794.61

Thanks ~

On the basis of principle, yes ordering from Criswell is definitely the better buy. If you have the time, drive it back. If not, pocket that $1,600 and spend some of that savings back to have the Jeep shipped to you. Either way, you’re still saving money.

Call my guy in Conroe. You'll get 6-8% off invoice (12-14% off sticker) all day long.

Neil Carpenter at Demontond in Conroe 281-541-0908 . Also has a "warranty forever" included.

I couldn't get anything near it in the San Antonio area.

Or, if you want to haggle and fight, PM me and I'll write back with all my "secrets" that I accumulated on this site.

If it helps you any, I did make that consideration, and I bought from Courtesy/Coastline! $1600 definitely wasn't enough to deal with a road trip for me lol.
