I'm a Costco member, so I can use their auto services. Anyone here have any experience with that? How are the prices as compared to all of the other typical paths? I've already visited one dealership and accidentally sent emails through Truecar to 3 dealers in my area (including that one). So, I'm not sure if this will affect it.

EDIT: hahaha... I was trying to see if it would show me the dealership and again, it was the same dealership for a 3rd contact! They're going to be quite confused.

I tried their program when negotiating my order. They were ok but still found a much better deal without them. It's not a bad starting point when negotiating with dealers, but far from the be all end all.

these things are frustrating because it looks like it is going to show you the name of the dealer, but it also contacts them at the same time. you would think i would've learned after the truecar thing.

I bought a 2009 Dodge Ram through Costco. Basically, they send you to the fleet manager. You can walk in off the street and buy through a fleet manager if you ask for them so not sure if it saved me anything. I did get a great deal though!

We negotiated our deal and then I mentioned that we were Costco members and they gave us an additional $500.00 off that price.

Costco will give you a pretty good deal and better than many folks end up with on theirs. But check out the recommended dealer list: https://www.jlwranglerforums.com/forum/threads/recommended-dealers-list.1227/

I’m betting you’ll find a better deal. I see you’re in NJ, here is another thread to check out: https://www.jlwranglerforums.com/forum/threads/best-dealer-to-order-from-in-new-jersey.2447/

With the help this forum and folks like @ThirtyOne , posting on the NC Roll Call, I was able to get a little over 6% under invoice…I can’t recall exactly but that was like 10-12% under MSRP.

Good luck

I also joined TreadLightly (https://www.treadlightly.org/) which cost $100, but through FCA saved another $300 after the cost of the one year membership. Plus it came with a $50 code for Discount Tire (used on mine and wife's combined with other offers)...Plus a FREE T-Shirt!!!!

It's pretty Rockn' Awesome!

When I was shopping around I asked a dealer out here who told me the TL discount is better than the Costco one. I was actually surprised by his response but still did not want to match the one Jim Marsh was offering. Nothing wrong with Costco but I remember reading somewhere that they will sell it to you 1% above invoice with that.

Checkout the Northeast group buy thread. It's in CT so it's not too far and it's 7% under invoice 399 doc fee and 500 down to order. Deadline is later this month for September delivery.

The contact with the dealer is very responsive and makes it pretty straightforward.

I ended up buying back in november from Crisqell down in Maryland over 200 miles away because none of the local dealerships were flexing at all on price. I got 6% below invoice but they botched every step of the purchase. The even forgot to check about recalls and couldn’t sell me the 2018 wrangler on their lot after I took a 5 hour train ride because of that frame weld issue. At least they discounted the 2019 I ended up ordering even further to cover my expenses.

Tread Lightly is pretty cool, but there's also Access Fund, which will provide you the same discount for $35. It's more of a rock climbing thing than an offroading thing though. Their $50 membership also comes with a free tshirt, lol.

I ordered a 2018 JLU last June, when it was more difficult to find dealers that would deal.

The Costco program got me the initial contact with the dealer. The Costco offer was not that great - a few hundred below invoice - but it got the ball rolling. I was able to add Tread Lightly and a little more on top of that. It wasn't a deal to brag about here, but it was a local dealer and no additional fees. There were price increases after I ordered and the dealer stuck with the original figure. I'm satisfied with the deal I made, plus there was a $200 Costco coupon for Mopar parts which I used for a roof rack.
