That's clearly a leak, with all that dried pink residue there. Now you know which shop to take your Jeep to in the future. 👍

Yah I they gave me estimates for my 100k work and most are a bit cheaper than shop 1 also.

I’m a bit confused as to why you didn’t see that yourself? You spent so much time and effort looking for the leak, and that is pretty obvious. Did you not remove the engine cover,? I mean your diligence on checking the level was legendary, so what happened? Not trying to slam you or anything, it’s just that you worked so hard on this, and bam there it is.

lol i got cha. . . how come you guys didn't say "you take that cover off guy?"

sooooo as you all know I'm not the most car forward in knowledge person so I never asked anyone here how to remove it and was kinda worried I might mess something up. . . cause yah obvious! so why the hell didn't the first shop see it!!! so they obviously pulled a me and didn't remove the cover either. . . i'm really really tempted to call and ask but they give me free loaners for my oil changes for both jeeps and this place does zero loaners. I'm on the road for my job daily so it makes life easier. . . but there is no way shop 1 is ever doing anything more than oil changes anymore. anything that needs diagnosis or is warrenty is going to shop 2.

Ahh- that makes sense- in the future, I’ll remember about advising to remove the cover. At any rate , I’m super happy your problem has been found.

Just a follow-up in case there's others with mysterious coolant loss and overheating issues. After replacing the EGR cooler, the problem is resolved. Additionally, even though the tank wasn't an issue, I went to an aftermarket aluminum coolant tank to eliminate a common failure point.
