Me: I'm interested in 2-door Wrangler.
Salesman: I recommend the Sahara. You can get it with full-time AWD.
Me: But I want a 2-door.
Salesman: I can order you one. We don't have one on the lot.
Me: You can't order s 2-door Sahara.
Salesman: Sure you can.
Me: No you can't. Jeep doesn't make 2-door Saharas.
Salesman: (unbelievingly) Since when?!
Me: (SMH)

Unfortunately, ignorant salespeople are pretty common. Some people just don’t care about their jobs. I’ve known more than the salesperson with every vehicle I’ve purchased.

SCIENCE!
Not knowing the details on the axles or the purpose of lockers is almost forgivable. We shouldn't expect the salesman to be an enthusiast. But at LEAST know enough about the trims to know whether a 2 door is available. C'mon. In literally no other field could a salesman get away with knowing so little about their product...

Awh, I'm sure they just claim that knowledge just gets in the way of making a sale... :)

He really didn't believe me. He went over to his computer to verify that I was right. He said it must be a change for 2019. Ugh,,,

I run into this quiet often. I was in Bad Buy to purchase a tablet and I asked 3 different salesmen about a feature on the tablet and got 3 different answers. I think members of forums like this one are often more educated than product sales people. I just wished they would tell me that they don't know instead of just pulling an answer out of their butt.

You ask 3 lawyers the same question and you'll get 3 different answers. Same goes for calling the IRS help line. Just keep asking until you get an answer that you like... :)

Dealers usually hire ex-cons to sell cars. At least around here, my local dealer have sales guys with prison tattoos under their long sleeves.

What the first three IRS agents tell you over the phone doesn't matter as much as what the IRS tax auditor believes.

Same way with lawyers... It wouldn't even matter if all 3 of the defense attorneys agreed on something (which is probably unlikely), what matters is what the DA believes since he is the one that is going to be referring charges.

One could argue that anyone in Miami wearing long sleeves definitely has something to hide... :)
