So it works in your forester but not in the jeep? For shits and giggles just buy an apple usb and see if it works in the jeep!!! as has been said generic cables don't play in the jeeps!
I still have the OEM cable that I keep in the house, so I'll try that out, however the generic cable has been fine (7 mos) until now.

I'm still using the Generic Nylon webbing USB I got at Target for $10 w/ iphone 6 using Apple Carplay, Spotify, (and Maps yesterday). No charging issues yet. Had our first stint of 20* weather. I'm wondering if a software update (phone side or Jeep side) fixed a bug or something.

Well, I'm happy/frustrated to report it seems that it's the cable for me. I brought it into the house and it wouldn't charge there either. I guess I can only expect so much from an Amazon buy.

Just to complete what I said I would do...I did some voltage metering on the USB ports of my JLUR and have the following results (charging an iPhone XS with 60% charge, with Apple USB-A to Lightening cable; I used a USB-C to USB-A mini-adapter to test USB-C):

USB1 - 5.01-5.03V / 0.95A output (both USB-A and USB-C)
USB2 - 5.10V / 0.95A output
USB3 - 5.04-5.08V / 0.95A output (both USB-A and USB-C)
USB4 - 4.88v - 4.99V / 0.95A output (both USB-A and USB-C)

So, while there seems to be slight inconsistency with the voltage of USB1-3, they are all consistently above 5V; whereas, USB4 is definitely lower. (Its the only port that supports charging-only and no audio, so this makes sense.) All ports were consistent with the amperage to the phone though. I hope this helps someone out there with similar questions...

That's disappointing. They are all at 1 amp. Looks like I'll be using my 12 volt adapter. I am using my phone for navigation and bluetooth audio and I was losing 3-5% on a 30 minute drive. This explains why.

Mine would fast charge on the Samsung when I used the type c plug and I’m using the same type c plus with my iPhone now and it’s certainly charging while navigating.
