My uconnect shows that I have the feature turned on UT it does not seem to be working. I have never had any indications that it works.

That would be part of the Advanced Safety Group. Did you get that group? Comes with adaptive cruise control.

If you really wanted to test it, build wall out of cardboard boxes and drive through it. See if it stops you.

It seems like the advanced safety braking feature is afraid of shadows (quite literally). There has been mention of Jeeps coming to a screeching stop under bridges or in parkades/parking lots, so if you think that yours isn't working I would personally bring it in and have it looked at. Hopefully someone here has a simple solution for you though.

I read it is better to use a person instead of cardboard, something about picking up on a warm body's heat signature?

Test it out and let us know.

Had someone suddenly open a car door the other day on a narrow street and it stopped me. I was impressed. I think the guy behind may have stained his BVDs though

OP- do you get a brief yellow dash indicator at start up that says "FCW" with a graphic of a car wreck? It only shows for a couple of seconds before shutting off. I think that's the system self-test it does each time you start the vehicle. See if you notice that.

In my uconnect setting I have verified that the feature is turned on and I have tried near, medium and far settings. When the system activates due to an obstruction what warning should I see or hear?

Have you looked it up in your owner's manual? It should tell you what the alerts are when it activates. In my other cars (Mazda3 and Forester), the collision avoidance yellow indicator light flashes and the car sends out a series of fast audible beeps to tell you the feature has been triggered. There's no indicator lights when it is active - when you turn OFF the automatic braking, it displays the yellow indicator light to tell you the system has been deactivated.

Symbol in my other cars looks like this - not sure what the Wrangler's looks like:
Jeep Wrangler JL Collision avoidance feature Forward-collision-system

Does your ACC work? That would test out the sensors.
