Where is the cool air coming from? I don't see any cutouts in the hood for this to draw on. It seems like it would still take hot, under the hood heat in.

Well it's not really getting any cooler air than the stock intake--

The shape and purpose of the stock intake "LIPS", is to draw air from the gap between the hood/fender--the exact same as the JK jeeps--very dangerous/inefficient-

So that's ONE place the new JL has let us down !

I wish that VARARAM would research the 3.6L V6/Wrangler--

The unit he is showing draws from the top, so I see no advantage except warm air. If you install a snorkel and connect to the CAI, now I may see some improvement.

Yeah, that's right, that AFE model just draws "HOT ENGINE ROOM AIR"--

Purely an individuals choice !

In my experience heat soak killed any benefit other than the kewl factor and maybe a better sound. This time around I think I'll just go with a K&N drop-in filter.

My take
- heat soak can be prevented using a carbon fiber tube. I had a Legmaker one on my challenger rt that made a good deal od difference in louisiana. Not sure if speedlogix has them for the jl yet.
- my tj performed much better with cai than without. Added more power plus an extra 1mpg
- ive heard mixed things about cai with the 3.6

Nothing but sound, a lighter wallet, increased chance of hydrolocking, and a massive chance of the dealer blaming ANYTHING engine related on the CAI.....do yourself a favor, and spend the money on something else. Literally one of the worst mods possible on a wrangler.
