Cloth Vs Leather

Hello Y'all,

Me again!

I am pretty set on getting cloth as with the doors off and top open, its better than sitting on vinyl, like in our boat or leather in our RHO. The week I had the Sarah and put over 1k miles on it, I was really comfortable in the cloth seats and manual adjustments.

Is the 2k extra worth it for additional movement and sweating?

I’ve always preferred cloth. More comfortable and while harder to keep clean, it’s not a big deal for me. I’ve tried a lot of leather seats from different manufacturers and most of them suck. Jeep included

Having Jeeps with both cloth and leather seats, I find the cloth more comfortable.

You are in Texas, I say get the cloth especially rolling around with top and doors off.

Or you can get (very good) aftermarket leather with Katzkin or others if you have a later change of attitude. I happen to like leather and if I was doing it again, I would get cloth and put Katzkin over it.

Another vote for cloth. Leather is too hot in the summer and too cold in the winter.

I ordered a set of Katskinz from Touch Ups Automotive for my wife's Jeep and they were about $800 and did the install myself. Not a real hard job but your forearms get tired from squeezing hog rings, LOL.

$800 is a lot better than the last time I looked at Katskinz.

I've always preferred cloth, but I decided to splurge on the leather this time and now I wonder why I never did before. (The factory Mopar Katzkin perforated leather option.)

It's tough yet soft, and I have no worries about temperature because I also got remote start. And I have no more worries about spilling anything or ripping it apart with a stray package or pocket item.

Our JKU had leather, and we covered them with Bartact covers. Just too hot in the summer with the top off & "slippery". My son's new '25 Sport has, surprisingly, very nice cloth seats. They're comfortable, and when his Jeep got stuck in a random very hard rain the other day with the top off, the seats dried out very quickly. He patted them with a towel & they felt pretty much completely dry.

I'll still probably cover them with Bartact covers, though their prices seem to be quite a bit higher than I remember for our JKU.

Got young kids, even worse dementia patients that your wife insists on feeding in the vehicle, or just a slob yourself ? Consider leather, or get covers for cloth making it as hot as leather.
