Anyone use this harbor freight air compressor? Just wondering if it's worth $50.
Thanks

It’s junk. This is the only cheap compressor that is worth anything. And it’s actually pretty awesome for the cost. Years ago there was a comparison done on Pirate 4x4 versus a $300 Viair and it held it’s own, if not, outperformed.

I had one for years and it finally blew up (may have ran it without the air filter?), bought another one to replace it- love it too. Last year I did finally spring for an ARB twin, but it’s still working fine.

No but I picked up the next model below that one at Harbor Freight for like $39.00 and it seems to work just fine for light duty use. I decided to go with it after reading all the reviews and thought it would work fine for what I need. If it lasts a couple of years I'll be fine with that.

You can get the same Superflow MV-50, under the name Masterflow MF-1050. Supposedly, Smittybilt also sells a version of it. Anyway, It's currently on sale on Ebay for $49.99 from Pep Boys -about half the current price on Amazon. There are a lof of good reviews for the SuperFlow MV-50/MasterFlow MF-1050 on Youtube. :like:

I aired up all 4 of my 35" tires from 17PSI to 35PSI before another guy I wheeled with could get two of his 33" tires done with this. His compressor also turned off on him shortly after I started to help him air up with mine.

90% of harbor freight stuff is crap, you really get what you pay for.

I also suggest the MV5O for a solid cheap compressor. I have one hard mounted to my WJ Grand Cherokee. It's been an awesome unit.

Still relatively cheap compared to Viair or ARB is the Smittybilt 2781, $100-125. I use this on my JL and it is considerably faster but also a good but bigger.

I used this compressor for a few years, it's not bad for the price. However, it does lose power the more you use it. Eventually it was taking 25-30 minutes to air up (4) 35's. Finally the piston broke and in the trash it went. I probably used it 50 times.

Retired from Corrections....I have stories.
I love wheeling with guys that have slow compressors. There is nothing like taking 50 minutes to air up 37s from 8 psi.vs 16 minutes or less with a better compressor. Then they want to use mine to help speed up the process. Usually it is not a big deal, but if we drop and add air twice in one day or go wheeling for a week, it gets old. I usually just pull out a chair and wait. I tease them,..... 60,000 thousand wrapped up in your JLUR and you have a 30 dollar air compressor from Menards. Time is valuable.

I totally agree, if you rarely airdown it's not a big deal but spending 20+ minutes to air up kills a lot of time and then some people dont have a compressor and will need to borrow yours.

At this point I want to charge $1 to help them air up quick :CWL:

Having bad luck with overheating and ridiculous fill times on cheaper compressors, broke doesn and got a Smittybuilt 2781 and love it. Fills 4 37s from 15 to 35 in 20mins or so and avoids the lines at the air lines after a long day on the trails.
