Uhhh…yeah…about that sprinter van jack. I’m still patiently waiting for you to machine a spud out of aluminum to accept the Safe Jack attachments. I’m hoping some day it will get to the top of your to do list. Then again you probably didn’t know I had this on your to do list.

The 1.5 ton Pro Eagle as on sale for very close to the price of a HF 1.5 ton Badland
I love my little Pro Eagle. I wouldn't wheel without it. While that sale price is still not cheap, I'd jump on it if I didn't already have one that I paid the full price for. The specs say that the Harbor Fright is 12-13 lbs lighter. Not sure if that's a typo or not. 1.5 ton Off-Road Jack

Altho I'm 100% on board regarding the safety issues with a hi lift, when I popped a bead last year mid obstacle I found myself in a situation where the hi lift was indeed the right tool for the job, strangely enough. I'm considering getting one to have just in case... but the bottle jack will always be Plan A.

No jack needed. Makes a little pop and you're back on the rim and half inflated. I carry these all the time now. As essential as a spare to me.

Yes but in my situation it was not possible to jack the vehicle up from under the axle (pics never do it justice, I'm basically over a v-notch), and we needed to get weight off the tire so we could seat the bead to get it to pop. The front bumper happened to be sitting right over a nice flat rock, and the hi lift fit right where it needed to.

All we did was lift the jeep enough to get the bead to seat back on, threw a compressor on it, held it in place til it popped, and we were good. Well, almost. Turns out I'd sliced the valve stem, didn't have a valve stem repair kit, so I was able to drive the jeep the rest of the way up the obstacle to flat ground where we used a bottle jack to safely change the tire for the spare.

What you suggested would have replaced the compressor, but it still wouldn't have been possible to use until we got the weight off the tire.

Some people would suggest that even with the bead popped, I should have driven or winched to flat ground to do the repair. Risk of damage to the wheel or the rest of the Jeep was too high. But, if the hi lift plan hadn't worked out, or been higher risk, that would have been plan C.

You can pop it on without jacking, using starter fluid. For a bad stem, carry Colby emergency stems. I would be terrified to pop the bead back on like that where the jeep was sitting in that instance lol. There was almost no room to work, and like i said, mid obstacle.

You were there. I wasn't. Your best judgement always. 👍 Just offering some options. I've used it half a dozen times. So, I carry it. The Colby valve stems should be part of everyone's kit. You just push the broken stem into the wheel, and insert the Colby stem from the outside and tighten it to swell the seal. Done.
