Thanks for the feedback. There was a couple iterations to work around the light. In the end we went with the picture shown. Keep in mind that only the higher trim level JLs have the light. Having an opening in the back of the tray would not make those without the light happy. It would be a pretty easy mod to cut the light notch out if that is what you want.

The good news is the mold should be done and sampling production parts this week.
If you want a one-size-fits-all tray to avoid having to make two versions, you could use my suggested design change and just provide guidelines for a cutout section that would be optional for people that have the light. As designed, a mod would be challenging to do and make look decent due to the odd size and shape of the bumpout. Also cutting out the bumpout would create a hole in the tray versus being flush against the edge. Sorry, but I think you guys missed the mark on this.

I am tending to agree with you Sean. I personally would have like to have seen a modified version that would allow the light to be functional for us that have it without modifications to the upper tray that would likely have negative aesthetics

I agree as well. With the light being rendered useless and the cables coming out the front which will cause them to get smashed and eventually break instead of using the provide data hole in the console was a real miss. It would be very easy to put the cable pass through in the side of the console using the divider spaced evenly with the cutout in the console and the cable can go between the 2 sections of the tray and out the cutout in the console. Being OCD means attention to detail.

Any timing updates on these console organizers?
Should be available to order mid to late February. Hoping to have both the upper tray and lower divider available at the same time.

I like the idea but don’t think that first one will sell well. Compartments are too small, too many.
I agree. I would like the double divider solution. The smaller squares won’t really fit much of what I have in mine (pens, sunglasses etc).

You have to accommodate a bumpout or cutout for the light. But having some sort of a cutout in the bumpout so that it can provide light to the tray area would seemingly make sense. What I and others are saying is the light doesn’t need to be shining down into the bottom of the console while the tray is in place - that’s pointless.

I propose you just lose the bumpout altogether, and instead cut out a ~1.25-1.5” wide space in the top half of the tray (i.e., wide U-shaped) to accommodate the ~1” wide light. You could then keep a sufficiently high lip on the bottom edge of the tray in that area so that any contents don’t spill out as you remove the tray or drop it in (you’d just drop it in rear-first so the bottom of the U shaped cutout would fit under the light which sticks out maybe 1/2” or so). See my rough sketch based on your prototype attached.

I really like what you mocked up here. I don’t see why it should bother some that don’t have the light. It might just remind them they should have gotten the upgrade

I’d really hate to see a notch that you have to “trim out”. I prefer the most professional design as possible. Thanks for the mock-up!

I also agree that the cable should be coming out of the sides using the factory holes as intended. All in all, I think it’s a great product and I’ll be getting one!

The lower divider has finished production and will be shipping to Amazon this week. The divider turned out great!

The upper tray ran pre production. The tray fit was a little tight in the console so we are making some modifications to improve the fit. That puts it a couple weeks behind. We want to get it right. Sorry for the delay.

@salex

Turned out great, YOU say. How about posting a picture here of your "lower divider" and let us decide if we think it is great.
