Hello dj3513,

As I mentioned to the customer above, we can escalate to a case specialist who'll put in a request to expedite the part. Send me a direct message with your VIN to get started.

Happened to my '19 Rubicon. Opened to put hand gun in and closed back in Jan when I got it. Then on Sat when I was opening to put bike rack keys in and its broke. Literally second time opening.

Simple fix is to slide out the bottom piece and remove the two screws and just reset it. I hate going to the dealership though because its almost always a "Jeep thing" or something else.

@JeepCares are you able to see a database that has "known issues" that have been reported? I ask because I was tempted to just let the dealership handle this not because of the complexity or the fact this shouldn't even happen but because the likely hood it could happen again. I have a ridiculous rattling\vibration coming from my rear window. Took to the dealership and they suggest its a Jeep thing and common due to the spare tire. Nope not it. Its literally the back window vibrating\rattling and its audible. The hardtop is literally off half an inch when measured I took pics of it. Folks here determined if you lubed the rear window seal that resolves it but you need to do this frequently. Never had this issue on my JK. Point is its just so tiring "its a Jeep thing" when a lot of us own Jeeps and some of this clearly isn't a Jeep thing. If there is some sort of repository with known issues I'd love to use that as ammo so I don't have to waste a day off sitting at the dealership only to be essentially told to deal with it.

At least in my case, I was able to remove/pop out a plastic piece to gain access to the actual latching mechanism. I was then able to move the latch into the appropriate position and then push a stainless steel pin into the appropriate position using my finger. Total process took less than 5 minutes. I would suggest everyone having this issue looking to see if any of the plastic pieces are actually broken, or if you just need to push the pin back in. I too took it to a dealer and was told they'd have to order the part.

Just took the plastic trim piece off to inspect mine and push the pin back into place. No spring to be found anywhere. I'm not positive one was ever there. I never heard or felt it pop out, and no spring laying around in the console or floorboard. I guess a dealer repair is the only option now.

Ours broke on our Dec ā€˜18 build. Fixed it the first time myself. Happened a second time and took it to the dealership. 3 weeks now waiting on parts. Our Rubicon was built and delivered in that same time. The updated mopar track bar was ordered at the same time and that already arrived.

Mine was broke when I got the Jeep. It took about a month for the part to come in. The dealer called my house twice in an hour to see if I still wanted the part....seriously. I said yes, it didn't fix itself. They couldn't schedule me in for three weeks. When I went in to get it fixed they told me Jeep made them send the part back because it had not been installed yet and they needed it.

I guess next time I need to schedule the repair a MONTH DOWN THE ROAD WHEN THEY ORDER THE PART, NOT WHEN IT COMES IN.

I was (and still am) ticked about how Jeep handled it

The part for mine is on order. The dealer said it would take ā€œa few weeksā€ to come in and that they would call me, but have no eta.

Itā€™s not something I really care about, so I waited until my first oil change to bring my Jeep in. I shouldnā€™t have bothered! I decided to do the first oil change early, at 3500 miles (I do that with all the new cars I buy, despite what everybody says about not needing to with modern engines). When I picked the Jeep up they had forgotten to do the oil change  So now my first service will be whenever that part shows up.

In fairness they did reassemble the broken latch while they had it but I canā€™t imagine it will hold together for very long. The spring that was in there shot out when it broke and itā€™s gone, never to be seen again, so I never had the option of fixing it myself.

Small potatoes in the grand scheme of things. Itā€™ll show up when it shows up.
