Just took the plastic trim piece off to inspect mine and push the pin back into place. No spring to be found anywhere. I'm not positive one was ever there. I never heard or felt it pop out, and no spring laying around in the console or floorboard. I guess a dealer repair is the only option now.
Hi jimmyzwheelz,
Please send us a private message once you are able to visit your dealer and we will gladly assist with that process.

My second one just exploded this morning.
Hi Crusifix,
We're sorry to hear this! Please let us know via private message if you plan to return to your dealer and we have a case escalated in your behalf.

I was able to fix the last break myself. I then put a dab of rtv silicone on the end of the pin to keep it from walking out again. Should be good to go now.

2019 Ocean Blue Sahara 2.0 JLU FINALLY HERE!
Just an update, took the Jeep in @ 2500 miles for oil change and to get this latch repaired. They had parts on hand and didn't need to replace the entire console as per the service bulliten. Seems to be working.

Just happened to me on Friday! I bought the Jeep the Friday before! I was supposed to drop it off to get the protection package completed but due to rain had to reschedule for this Friday! I talked to service depot but they said to stop in earlier than my spot so they can look at it! Has less than 500 miles on it

It's very frustrating. The time it takes to go to the dealership for them to look at it and they order the part. From my understanding it is a back order part. So I wait and go back to the dealership. For what a little metal bar? My dealership had my Jeep for 2 weeks for another problem and it was on the list of things to be fixed. Instead of doing the right thing and get the part they just pushed it back in place.

That is really all they can do. Even the new part just "pushes back in place". See my post above for how to perform a permanent fix.

I had this problem a week after mine was delivered from the factory. I was also worried about fixing it myself, so a dealer ordered a replacement (which was back ordered), and I never heard from them again. This was December 2019.

I eventually decided to just fix it myself this past spring so I could lock the console with the doors off. There is a knurled pin that the latch spring is located on, which is ā€œpressedā€ into a plastic hole and can basically just slide out. A dab of epoxy on the knurling of the pin has been holding it in place for about 6 months of daily use.
