My check engine light came on yesterday in my 2023 Wrangler 4xe. I have this cheapo ODB reader (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07Z3HB7DR), and it shows "no codes stored". I've stopped and started the vehicle and driven about 20 miles with the light on. Is this reader just unable to read codes, or is it possible to have a CEL with no codes? It seems to read everything else just fine. The Jeep is still under warranty but the dealer can't get me in for almost 2 weeks, so I'd love to know what the deal is before I keep driving this thing for these two weeks. Any ideas?

You could take it to like a local auto zone as they can check it for you, I personally use JSCAN and it seems to have a pretty detailed code reader built into the app.

Pull the battery (12volt battery) neg off for ten seconds and then hook it back up.

The Autozone folks brought out their good reader and it's a P0E15. Their cheaper generic one that they let people use also showed 0 codes.

Very common hybrid battery coolant heater failure. Pretty easy and quick fix that your dealer probably understands, and covered by warranty. Hopefully the newer heater models last longer. I can’t think of any reason not to continue driving with this CEL. The hybrid will behave a little differently. ICE will be on more.

Invest in a better OBD (JScan, tazer…) if you can
