I just installed a Uniden Bearcat CMX760 under the passenger seat. Wanted to share a few things I learned. First off, there are three ground lugs, one completely unused behind the passenger front right kick panel. They are right below the front right door wiring harness, which is removed in this picture. I used the lowest one for the CB.
The font passenger sill/kick cover snaps off by pushing horizontally toward the center of the vehicle.
Here is the radio mounted under the passenger seat. There was a ground lug I used to mount the Uniden bracket. I only used the one fastener, but it feels solid.
I zip tied the CB wiring to the wire loop that runs under the carpet and allows the seat to articulate fore/aft when adjusted.
The antenna will be mounted in the the tailgate reinforcement bracket. The fire ring cable had an intermittent ground, so I’m waiting on a replacement cable to finish that up. I removed the paint on the bottom surface and also pulled out a hinge bolt, removed the plastic washer, removed some paint and added a star washer for a good ground to the tailgate reinforcement bracket. I will also run a ground strap from the backside of that fastener, through the tailgate wire loom and to a good ground in the rear right side. I still need to remove that plastic to run the coax and attach the ground strap. I hope this helps someone!
