Ok back to the topic at hand…

what size are your tires? Is it possible they are too wide for the rails at the car wash to accommodate? I only use the tunnel type car washes sparingly in the winter but I have never had my Jeep jump the track as you describe
The tires are 35X12.5, What happening is the wheel cleaner brush is pushing the steering right and holding it there and then the front wheel jumps the rail. I now lightly hold the wheel and apply some resistance when needed and this has not occurred again.

FWIW. After a day on the trail with the family we stopped of at a fuel station before getting home and I was cleaning the bugs from the windshield and went in to use the restroom. While I was in there my bonus son decided to use the fuel station’s squeegee to wash the hood of my one day old brand new JL. Only had 500 miles on it. The next day I washed the jeep and my wife came out and flipped when she saw the hood(I hadn’t seen it yet) and thought I had just done it. And was like what did you do and my heart sank. So I went and looked at it and the hood is scratched so bad it has a giant T on it. Across the front of the hood going back towards the windshield. I was like why on earths would I wash my car this way and she got this look of dread on her face. What’s that look for? She said bonus son did that while I was in the bathroom at the fuel station last night and she didn’t think any of it. Anyway. I have 1000 miles on it and still have my bonus sons mark on the hood! We figured I’m going to do a lot worse On the trail so no need to freak out. So he got a lesson on how to properly wash a car! And what not to use on the paint!
No offense…but your wife should slap the crap out of you. Really? My mother in law did something one notch worse in her new Lincoln a number of years ago…she used a Brillo pad to clean bugs off the bumper. Hard lesson to learn.

I was wondering if anyone else has the same observations.
When going through the automated car washes, my steering wheel constantly gets pushed around by the brushes sometimes causing the Jeep to jump the track.
You should stop going through the car wash with the top and doors off.

It's best to hand wash with a low PH soap like Mother's Gold Car Wash Soap . Also, have it ceramic coated every year to prevent swirl marks.
Lol.

it’s a Jeep for goodness sakes, not a 1972 Ferrari Daytona. :CWL:

When the top is on my jeep I’ll occasionally run it through the car wash. Any swirl marks are insignificant compared to the marks left by sagebrush, trail dust, and , you know, driving it 🤣😇

Since most replies are "you should hand wash it , wahhh wahhh wahhhhh", I go to an automated one at least twice per week. I've never had issues. Never wobbles, jumps the track, and it doesn't sound like it's pulling my spare tire off. I think you should just find a different car wash.

While I take my daily driver sedan through whatever car washes I want, whatever is convenient and cheap, I refuse to take my Wrangler through anything other than a touchless car wash. Those brush wheels are configured/calibrated for "normal" shaped cars. A Wrangler, especially a modified one, is anything but normal. Best case scenario is the brushes totally miss most of the Jeep because it can't handle all the sharp angles and weird crevices that don't exist in most cars. Worst case scenario is you Wrangler enters the carwash with fewer parts than it went in there with.

I dont have the space or equipment to do my own washing of my Jeep, so I'm going to take it to a local detail shop for a wash about every 2 months or so.

They did a really nice job on my M3 when I took it there, so Im going to take my Jeep there as well.

I really, really wanna keep this Jeep nice. That's why I also sprung for the garage in my complex.

My thought is I'll take it through a touchless to knock off any big and bad diet after wheeling and have the detail shop get her back to sparkling.
