Can I sit on the crossbar?

Not recommended if the vehicle is in motion. Might ruin your relationship tho.... The only time I did that was to watch fireworks when I first met my ex.... was a slow 9 years downhill from that day.

Where can you go to watch space shuttle launches these days?

I have no idea. But I do have a good memory of doing so years ago in Florida -- and sitting on a rollbar/crossbar as we did. I think we were at Cocoa Beach.

Sitting on top of the Jeep only gets you 4 feet closer to the stars, or anything else, in the sky.

My kids do and love it.

If you're concerned, they also make hammocks that go across where the freedom panels are. Then you could really lie back and watch the sky!

Yes, you can sit on the crossbar, but why sit on a hard surface when you can get a hammock? You put one over the front seats and one over the rear seats (if you've got company), get a pillow and a light blanket and enjoy.
