Looking to do some long road trips with my dog (Lab mutt) in a JLU and want to keep the rear seats up. Can anyone recommend a good dog seat cover and rear seat filler to expand the area he can lay on?

With seats up, I like this sling setup. Cheap and lasted me a long stretch before replacement due to sun over time damaging the rear straps in a different car. You can store supplies on the floor under the sling to make it more comfortable. With this sling the pup doesn't fall to the floor every time you stop short.

Amazon:
URPOWER Dog Seat Cover, 100% Waterproof Hammock 600D Heavy Duty Scratch Proof Nonslip Durable Soft Pet Back Seat Covers for Cars Trucks and SUVs https://a.co/d/04FWOL9Y

Also, rear door thinskinz,

https://thinskinz.com/

awesome way to cover and protect the door interior, my dog ruined the Mercedes (and I didn't care! Made it a 2 seater!). But really didn't want to trash the Rubicon interior too... Love these, they pop right on and off very easy

We just use a dog hammock thing in the back seat. If your dog sheds, sorry. Nothing will stop that. I have to comb the carpets in the side and back weekly as our Golden is made purely of hair.

Check out 4Knines. I have their car seat cover and the harnesses that click into the seat belt. Quality built, it stays in place, and the dog hair is pretty easy to remove. (The same can’t be said for the factory carpet)

DirtyDog is my go to. I run their full cargo cover in the back for my GSD. Holds up pretty well.

I would be interested if anyone has solutions for adding some restraint if the back seats are down. My boy likes to sit and I'd love to be able to have something for him to lean against but not have the seats up (my rear seat is deleted).

Thanks for the suggestion. The only thing that makes this not work is the straps blocking the rear windows. My pup loves to sit with his head out the window. I guess I could not connect them but then I lose door protection
The straps can be configured to not block the rear windows. I have it set up so Fred can freely stick his poofy head out with no obstruction.

I use a Weathertech seat cover for my 55 pound dog. For long trips, I made a board that spans the entire seat space. I stapled indoor/outdoor carpet on the board so he can get a good grip on it. With the added space, I can put his bed and blanket to make him feel more relaxed.

We have been using the bartact seat covers on our rear seats to protect them from the dogs. They aren't jeep but fit like factory and hold up well. I've been trying to put the dogs in the cargo area more because it keeps the jeep cleaner and they aren't falling all over the place. It keeps the door panels, center console, and back of the front seats get less wear.

We previously used the Duluth Scout's Mobile Mudroom (mentioned earlier). We have since switched to the Canvasback Hammock. We didn't like that the Duluth model blocked the air flow from the center vents and the Canvasback solved that for us with the center mesh.

Holy S**T Batman, had no idea about door thinskinz. Will definitely get these. Thanks for the suggestion
I use ThinSkinz for my two Huskies. They sit in the back and love to hang out the windows. I've had them for about 8 months now. No issues, they are great.

They sell two kinds - one with the door handle, the other with it blocked out. This makes it so the dogs can't accidently open the door. Great feature. I added some "Cat Tounge" stuff I found on Amazon to add more grip to the top of the ThinSkins to allow for more traction for my dogs so they don't slip during turns and stuff.

See here: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B08CS3Q3Y4

I use Diver Down seat covers for the back seat in my 2024, and they work great.

I also setup a ratchet strap between the rollbars with a hook in the center and I connect this up:

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B071NGSX3N

This then connects to the dogs harnesses and they can still hang out the window, but they can't fall out. And they don't get tangled up. Do not use this setup with a collar connection - only a hardness with a connection on the dogs back.

Sending belly rubs!
