Best engine EVER in a Wrangler, but my short-hops driving pattern was hard on DPFs (original + two replacements). Thank goodness for the 96 month emissions warranty.

Final advice: If you don't already have one, buy a PedalMonster. Mine is transfering over to the MOAB. Banks claims it will be compatible - we'll see.

Now if Banks would just come up with a Derringer tuner for the V8 I would be very pleased. 😃 Anyway, no idea what a DPF costs but I highly suspect it would cover a helluva lot of gas, expect about 11 with mostly short hops, a playful foot drops it quickly. Congratulations, you’ll love it.
Final advice- if you haven’t already order a NoLimitz immediately, turn it on disabling MDS especially on short hops when the lifters are constantly collapsing and uncollapsing every time you get off and back on the throttle. Your lifters and cam will thank you, Uhh also your ears. OR+ should disable it also, I can’t verify my 21 doesn’t, but newer reportedly do.

I bought one just off the truck without even a listen, let alone a test drive, The sales guy was in the passenger seat to instruct me on the few changes in features since my 2021. When I started the engine for the first time, and it ROARED to life, I asked him to show me the sport exhaust button was so I could turn it down. His reply: "it already is turned down".

According the chatgpt, putting the transmission in M mode gets the best of both worlds: no MDS + no risk to warranty. Thoughts?

The CONCEPT of having diesel power in a Jeep was the best idea ever, but the EcoDiesel was the worst engine ever put into a Jeep. My last one caught fire at around 20,000 miles. That was after having an oil leak repair at the dealership that took weeks. If a guy spends some time doing research, he will discover that RARELY do you ever see an EcoDiesel with 100k miles on it that hasn't had some kind of major $$$ repair. Those engines were pure European trash. The Gen 3 engine in JL/JT was slightly better, but still terrible.

If we had a quality diesel engine in these Jeeps it would be a no brainer. Diesel power is perfect for Jeep applications. It's just that Stellantis doesn't care enough to do it.

It's not the engine, it's all the emissions crap they put around the engine that make it a piece of junk. Whoever though the idea to dump exhaust soot back into a diesel engine should be flogged.

What are the warranty implications of the NoLimitz? And...what is "OR+"?
Off Road + button, in High range it increases throttle response and shift points, a kinda sport mode light - among it’s several features the NoLimitz JL is •not detected by dealer tools - $275 PNP, the new dash is a little more extensive than the simple old one but didn’t look too bad on the install video. https://zautomotive.com. Put it in loud and in 4 cyl mode it sounds like it’s shittin’ it’s britches. Best analogy I can come up with.
• dealer verified both it and the PM, no codes or footprints.

I have the 2016 grand Cherokee diesel with 165000 miles on it. With the exception of regens the jeep has worked well. My 2020 Wrangler diesel with 76 k miles has been flawless. I recently drove from San Diego to Silverton Colorado, 14 hours each way, again no worries. I maintain the engine carefully. Granted, I hate the emissions crap.

Interesting…there was a post on a Ecodiesel Jeep JL/JT FB page just a few days ago asking about mileage and quite a few responses were in the 100+k range. I’m currently at 65k troublefree.

I’ve loved my diesel. I’m at 92k. It really needs to be driven to get the most out of it. I drive between 500 and 1k miles a week and the diesel eats up the highway. I can see how short trips are hard on the emissions. Not the right drive train for everyone

The ecodiesel is a tried and true Italian marine diesal by VM Motori from what I've researched. One of the best ever made. The only down fall is the emissions system. I bought mine and immediately removed all that emmisions crap. This, by far, is the best Jeep I've owned. 300+ hp 500+ torque and 25mpg on 37s. 60k with just routine maintenance so far. I plan on keeping this one for a long time.

Congrats on the new ride!!!

My experience with the diesel has been great. ~80k miles and my wife has driven the last 50k or so with total disregard for what engine it has. She been asked to keep driving for a regen one time. I just change the oil every 5k for her and keep the DEF topped off. It’s been great for us. I’d buy another one if I could get a 2 door diesel. I much prefer the diesel over my 2.0L.
