Back on topic.... Watched a video explainjng many updates & key features of the gen3. EGR is a low pressure system. Starting post DPF means the vast majority of soot should burned off and not be reintroduced back to the intake.

A few other improvements as well, but separate from this topic. Redesigned EGR should remedy the dreaded EGR failures of gen2.

always a worry with diesels now. they put so much junk on them to reduce NOx and particulate, figuring using 25% more fuel to do so makes sense somehow to somebody …. not sure who though. They do not look at things in real world total pollution perspective though, just their little tiny piece and make dumb rules based on it.

On the Ram EcoDiesel forums, there's a user with the Gen 3 engine and he took his EGR tube off at 900 miles and it was already completely coked with soot. So if you think the new EGR system will be a total solution, you're probably going to be disappointed.
