So for three years in a row I've had these bubbles in the paint near the door hinges repaired. Also has the same exact problem on the leading edge of the hood and both passenger door edges.

This week I inspected these same areas and find the same issues again near 4 door hinges and the clearcoat peeling off of the hood that was repainted. There seems to be no stopping or resolution to this paint issue.

I know I have plenty of company with this, but just wondering what your thoughts are on this since this is my 3rd time.

I reckon you need to pull all the hinges off, remove all corrosion, and seal the underside of the hinge and part of the body where the hinge came off. The factory attaches the hinges first and then paints it. And if I’m not mistaken, the hinges are a different metal than the body.

I wonder if (after cleaning the metal thoroughly) you applied quality silicone caulk to the exposed metal underside of the hinge if that would stop this problem. That’s what I plan to do sometime down the road anyhow.

yup Jasons right! I intend to do the same when it gets bad enough, mine have slight bubbling and I have not had it resprayed for the exact reason that it will come back(FCA is totally at a loss in how to remedy this) without seperating the issue of two dissimilar metals. I plan on using a primer to lock down that chemical reaction then using a 3m clear vinyl as a gasket between the hinge and body, then a respray. I'll have an independent body shop do it. Once and done!

You are correct. The hinges do need to be removed and clean all of the corrosion off and seal at least to resolve this issue. The guy at the body shop made a comment about removing them to fix this time meaning they didn't the two other times. Hoping they do it right. I haven't heard back on whether it's approved this 3rd time or not. If not, I'll take it to my paint and body guy to have all four doors stripped and repainted properly.

Hahaha! I know how hot that stuff is! I bought some Carolina reaper peppers a few years ago. They were too hot to eat for me. I dried some out and crushed them up to see if that toned them down. Absolutely still too hot!!!

I am having issues with paint bubbling on hood and around door edges. How did you get this covered? My dealership says this is not covered under warranty. I also bought extended warranty. How do you all suggest going about getting this issue covered?

Go to a different dealer. That's what I had to do.

I've had this repair done by two different dealerships. They don't pull the hinges off and the problem returns. I'm still waiting on the third decision to fix this again on three doors.

I'm at the point that I'm just going to accept the fact that a proper fix will only get done by a body shop I hire to do it right.

My doors still have no paint underneath any hinge after those two previous paint repairs. Absolutely not the correct way to fix this issue.

I took mine in a few days ago for an estimate. I've not seen it yet, but the body guy was guessing $6500-$8000 to repair it properly. So far it looks like it will be covered by the corrosion warranty.

How does one find out if jeep is covered by a corrosion warranty?

The corrosion warranty is for 5 years starting from the "in service" date.
