I had the Bushwacker version of the bug deflector being discussed on my JKU. I liked the look and it worked to protect the hood. My only gripe was that over time the color began to fade no matter what I did. Eventually it looked more of dark grey color than black. I'm looking at this for my JLU:

Price seems good until they hit you with $20 for shipping.

Getting desperate...every time we travel hiway 87 in Arizona we get a lot of bugs. The other day my wife ran into a swarm of bees. I'm getting tired of the mess.

Has anyone found a bug deflector that actually works?

Have you tried rain X or similar to make bug removal easier? I’d surmise we need something substantial and vertical to get wind up and over the vertical windshield.

No, I haven't but maybe I will until someone finds a bug deflector that really works.

I'm new to this forum and to new to Jeeps for that matter. I saw Weathertech makes one and was wondering if anyone had any experience with it?
Also, had my Rubicon for a week and already have a crack half way down the windshield. Any ideas for this issue would be appreciated.
Thanks

I was going to purchase the Weathertech one, but they are charging $20 shipping for a $60 item. That's 1/4 of the price and just not worth it in my opinion.

As for your windshield, get used to it. Even with the slightly raked back windshield in the JL, you're still pretty much driving a box on wheels. There are many on this forum and the JK forums that have experienced chips and cracks in their windshields. Replace the windshield if the crack is bad enough. If not, wait until you get more chips or cracks and then replace it. If you are willing, spend the money on windshield protection film. Most tint or paint protection shops will be able to apply it for you.

Looks good. How do you like it? Thanks for posting up!
Thanks. I really like it. It's subtle against my Granite Crystal paint. I didn't like the WeatherTech logo bubble sticker that was on it, so I carefully removed it and cleaned off the residue with some acetone. The main thing I like about this protector, is that it won't fade/lose its color like the Bushwacker one I had on my old JKU.

Yes, very easy to install. It installs with 3M tape. Just make sure the hood is clean and prepped properly. WeatherTech includes alcohol prep pads and an adhesion promoter pad. Also, you want to install when the outside temperature is at least 60 degrees.
