About a month ago I installed a bolt hood lock on my 24’. Since the grill is re-designed they supplied a template to cut away parts of the grille to accommodate for the key. I hate the look. The gap is way too big, people have asked if it’s a charging port ?.

Before buying a new insert to experiment on I was curious if anyone cut away less than the recommended pieces? if so can you supply some pictures. Or if anyone has other ideas or suggestions

I actually went with the old fashion cable lock. I found two small holes in the hood, ran a coated steel cable through the holes and locked the ends together next to the secondary hood release. I did not want to cut into the grill, and a friend told me he has seen those Bolt locks fail.

Here are close up pics of the '24 factory insert. As others have stated, its the ENTIRE grill insert and not just the middle part like the '18-'23 part. The hole is much bigger than necessary.

EDIT: For clarity the part number for the insert is 7HR05RXFAA but I couldn't find it separately from the whole grille kit. Maybe @AllMoparParts.com can chime in and let you know if its available separately.

Since you’re now buying a new grille insert (btw, it’s the whole span of the grille), why not just buy the one designed for the Mopar hood lock?

I have one on order for the 2024 grille I’m going to install on my 2019.

For those who cut up their 2018-2023 grilles, Mopar has an easy to replace, centre piece with a cutout for their lock.

You would lose your trail cam by doing that. Maybe take a look at the Lasfit lock that operates off the remote door locks.

I have Lasfit and highly recommend. The only caveat is that (unless they've updated the design since Jan), the inside bracket for the emergency release needed modifications for the 2024 MY.
