I have iPhone X and base stock radio on 19 jl. I always listen to music through Bluetooth from phone to head unit. Every time I turn off jeep and restart, I have to go to Music icon, Select source, click Bluetooth and select phone. The Jeep never reconnects automatically.

Does anyone know how to make the connect automatic so I don’t have to do this every time?

Is the phone staying paired to the radio? base radio meaning the smallest one?

I have the rubicon base radio, non alpine. My iPhone stays paired to the heads unit. Every time I turn off jeep and turn it back on, I have to select media, then source and my iPhone. Then, my iPhone plays the music. When I turn off the jeep, the head unit defaults to the "radio" which is the XM satellite. I've never had a vehicle do this before--pisses me off

Same issue, I have a JLUR, 7” uconnect w/Alpine, 3 button presses minimum, sometimes many more to get back into my Bluetooth on my iPhone when I just left the car and went to a store for example. I use the radio 0% of the time and exclusively use my phone, never once have I got in and it just connected. Super frustrating. Now I hear every 20-30 seconds the background beep as if you pressed the screen only I’m not pressing the screen. Just randomly beeps once about every 20 seconds ish. Great sounding stock system, terrible head unit.

I have the same issue. It's on the list of things for Jeep to look into today when I bring it in.

My wife's phone has the same problem. Deleting the Bluetooth connection from the phones and the Jeep and repairing does nothing. When I start the Jeep, both phone report a Bluetooth connection with the Jeep and the Jeep list which phone is connected in Bluetooth setting. i.e., it's not a Bluetooth issue.

The issue seems to simply be that the head unit requires the user to select the source. Even when the only valid source is Bluetooth, I still have to select that source.

I have this issue, without the beep. It's not going to get any better or be fixed by the dealer. You have to learn to live with it or start thinking upgrade/aftermarket.

I do? How do you know it can't be fixed?

One and only thing I have talked with my dealer about, and lots of internet research. I called them rather than make the 100 mile drive, they said "dont bring that junk back here we cant fix it, it's a Uconnect problem and they are an outside vendor we cant do anything unless they release a software update". They may have been wrong, I'm actually hoping someone here proves them wrong before I go spent over a grand upgrading this garbage. Sorry, I should have quantified my post with "my dealer says it wont be fixed".

...it's a Uconnect problem...
My dealer effectively said the same thing. They can only wait for a Uconnect update, and suggested I monitor the site myself.

I wouldn't mind upgrading the unit anyway, but I'm going to bang on this a bit further. If one of my vendors put out something like this, I'd ask why they aren't providing functionality that exists in tech they've already released. My 2015 Renegade works as expected, but my 2019 Wrangler doesn't? Very weak.

The work around is click the Media button once then it will say connect to device, Press and hold the Media button again for 2 seconds and it will play your music automatically. I found it the hard way.
