This weekend I decided to go ahead and rhino line the grill, it took a little over 1 can of rhino lining and just a couple of hours of curing and it was done.

Nice! I'll be doing this with mine. I used Plastidip on my Taco grill, and it held up perfectly for the 3 years I had it.

I believe the grille he purchased is primed to be painted and not the Matte Black Grille
That may work better for me, as I want the bottom lip to match body color, like the show models. Looks like I'll have to paint it myself, since it's all one piece.

1.5 Cans on plastidip, 9 coats. Kept my JK grill flawless for 2 years and 20000 hard highway miles as well as offroad miles (on both JKs) actually. When I trade them in, I just peel it off and the OEM paint is flawless and spotless.

Yeah I'm kind of bummed that's one piece. I thought it'd be the bottom of the frame and would stay body colored. Looks a lot better body colored like on the show cars. Tape it off and rhinoline the rest I guess. Doubt anyone will notice drifty tape lines. :movember:

Do you guys plastdip your fenders? I don't want mine to fade.

Oh, be warned, the matte black grill doesn't take the Rubicon inserts from what I can tell. Compare the red to black.

Great job. Nice to see how the grille is disassembled. Looks fantastic! I will be doing the same. Thanks for posting.

This is the 2nd grill I've used that on, hard to beat for under $10.00 worth of truck bed lining. Holds up well, doesn't scratch up etc

It adheres to plastic well? Or do you have to scuff the paint before applying? On your first grill, it didn't peel?

I plan to wrap mine for that reason.
Plastidip would come out about the same in time and cost as well

first one it held up well, I used a sand paper fine grit to scuff up just enough for the liner to adhere, been running with it for awhile now, and several road trips plus a beach trip and it still looks like brand new
