I just got my 1up rack with the reverse side plate option. This thing is made like a tank and fits perfectly on the jeep. No rattles at all and it maintains ground clearance well while allowing you to open the tailgate when the rack is down. I tried to get them to give a discount if I posted some pics and showed how well the reverse side plate option worked on the jl but they wouldnt go for it. They dont advertise this option for some reason. Seems foolish to me since the rack fits horrible on the jl without it but its like its made for it with the option.

interesting. I didn’t know it could be flipped. Is this something you can also do to existing racks or is only from the factory? Are you able to switch yours back around for say another vehicle?

I dont think you can swap the plates around to make a current 1up rack reverse side plate. The notches for the rack position and the bolt that sets the "all the way down down" position would be in the wrong spot. But 1up sells any part on their rack individually so I may just buy the normal side plates for potential future use if they are cheap enough. Its 80 bucks for the 1.25" hitch bar with side plates so how much could just the side plates be?

I may call them and order the side plates. Thanks

That is a nice rack. One thought though is since your custom light bar isn’t center, even if you Turn the left blinker on, it will be flashing on the right side of the Jeep.

LOL, Very true, but I think the point gets across. The OEM lights get blocked too much with the bikes on.

i decided to just buy them. I dont know if they up charge for the reverse ones but the normal side plates are 30 bucks. I guess now I hope they do since I paid 65 bucks more for the reverse option.

I’ve updated my setup with quick fist fasteners. They lock the bike up high so it does not interfere with the escape angle of the Jeep. The Jeep remains off-road capable even while carrying a mountain bike.
Bumper and tire carrier by LoD. LoD also custom fabricated the bike carrier arms.

I don’t expect many people will do this but I was happy it fit. I needed to help someone today with their lawn. I didn’t feel like pulling the bike rack off and putting the trailer on to transport my mower.
Thought I would give it a try and it is almost a perfect fit. I know 1up sells another cargo tray so I was pretty confident it wouldn’t be an issue. The rear camera came in use checking on the load.

A company named Hollywood makes one, sold on etrailer.com. I used it for a while to carry my mountain bike.

I'm curious... most of the straps are missing in this pic. I know you don't have this rack anymore from seeing your subsequent posts, but when you were using it did you use it without the straps going around the tire and under it?

Straps may be difficult to see against all the black, but I did use them. I strapped through the spokes of the wheel, and around the wheel.

Nice! That looks better than looping the straps around the tire. I just ordered this rack, so I'll try to do something similar. Thanks!
