BMW at number 2? Tells me all I need to know about the credibility of this list.
Politely disagree as an owner and driver of BMWs for the last 35+ years. Especially the G-generation vehicles and drivetrains are bulletproof. The B58 is the best inline-6 engine currently on the market and in the history of inline-6’s. There are as of now plenty of 150k+ mile examples out there already.

Plenty of manufacturers realized this too and started buying their drivetrains from BMW in the last 3-5 years: Toyota, Land Rover, Ineos. Also racing brands: McLaren, DiTomaso, Morgan. Just to name a few.

The pains of the E-generation BMWs are long gone.

The one thing that, subjectively, BMW royally fucked up as of late is their designs. Holy sh** have these things become abominable.

Whatever…

I’ve had the best luck with Mopar stuff.

I have an uncle who’s a Chevy guy.

Subarus are annoying with all the beepers and nanny bots.

Consumer Reports has always hated Jeep, and Stellantis gave them much more to hate. The 4xe problems just added fuel to the fire. ;)

100% agree. I had a BmW e60 v8 which was the best driving and yet most unreliable vehicle I’ve ever owned.

The newer inline 6 & turbo 4 cyl. Engines by BMW are very reliable and fun to drive. I just hate the BMW tax every time you have to buy parts.

If you look at the number of major innovations pioneered and perfected by BMW, Porsche, and Mercedes, you really have to take your hats off to the Germans. They have engineered a lot of amazing stuff, including ABS and anti-skid technology on motorcycles (which all the other manufacturers ridiculed for years until they were able to copy it.)

Agree. Happy with our 2 jeeps. Drove my folks Subaru over thanksgiving. Felt like a tin can & yelled at me for taking my eyes off the road. WTF?

Ah, I was one of the e-gen owners years and years ago. Never recovered from the bitter taste in my mouth. The only vehicle that I thoroughly enjoyed without much repairs was a ‘90 325is. Really miss that car.

That will delight my wife, who is enamored with the Grenadier, but have shied away from it due to our experience with BMW in the past.

It’s discouraging to see American brands occupy 6 of 10 “worst“ slots, and only 2 of 10 “best” slots.

Then I remember that Consumer Reports gets it wrong more often than not. Their direction on appliances repeatedly steered us to the landfill. Now we look elsewhere for shopping advice.

CR has always hated on US made vehicles and especially Jeeps! If you are uber wealthy then go for BMW. However most Jeep owners are not and we enjoy being able to repair our vehicles.
IMHO all reviews are bought!
