After handling friend's tables, most were janky contraptions, poorly executed, sub-par hardware, tab hinges, some fastening over the tailgate plastic made for some additional slop, cable hangers, all completely lacking a precision/solid presence. Deception required to not offend. Then the pricing, $70-$500, ouch (and no one had the $900 Expedition Essentials).

Just about to pull the trigger on the Outback Adventures table when I had the misfortune of operating a Goose Gear table. No cables, actual hardware hinges with dampened mechanical catches, precision hole placement/no slots, draws tight using the original 7 metal bosses inside door, quality hardware, obscene price... done. Worth it? no. Satisfied, yes.

Solid, and I can't un-know that (I do wonder what the Expedition Essentials operates like...).
Have you handled the American Adventure Lab product? I think it looks great but seems to be a long time coming for me, (and a bit pricey).

Only photos, no hands on as they are apparently difficult to get and in perpetual pre-order. Hinges look very strong, light is a definite plus. The welding witness line seem to indicate a blind hanging connection to door.
I like it, still would want a hands on first, test that pivot latch closure, toggle switch...

Hey , funny thing, my AAL VersaTable just became available after my post earlier. I'll let everyone know how it is once I receive it.

Man, I thought my Outback Adventures table was expensive. Dang, that Goose Gear... obscene, indeed. :surprised:

But it looks fantastic and probably feels it, too.

FWIW, i also ended up getting the Outback Table in a moment of weakness (OK, it was a gift!) and it functions OK. it definitely does interfere with the airflow out of the J**p; it's especially noticeable when closing the doors with the windows closed.

if you also go this route, please consider keeping at least one window cracked if you're closing your doors with your dog inside so as to not injure their ears!
I’ve had the Outback table on three Jeep’s. I’ve not noticed any airflow change at all. No Pressure change at all when my kids jump out of the Jeep and slam the doors every single morning when I drop them off at school. And my dog‘s ears are totally fine. That pup can still hear the UPS truck coming from 3 blocks away. He LOVES riding in the Jeep. And yes all my windows are closed.

Goose Gear is as previously said, solid, well built and noise free going down the rode. Like that it doesn't have cables or braces on the sides.

When I've called them on the phone they have answered every time and were very knowledgeable on their products. Great quality products and good people to work with.

not surprisingly, some j**ps are better sealed than others. (and that's even ignoring things like door sill guards that interfere with the seals.)

I started this thread a while ago but never bought a table. I sold the last Wrangler last year and just got another. So I am back to looking for a reasonably priced table for light use. Priority is nothing that rattles or makes noise while stored. Anything new?

To a degree, it seems like it is a price point decision to me.
People love the $500. dollar unit.
For me, I can't see spending $500., as some have suggested, if you do though the materials and quality get much better it appears.
I'm guessing the under $100. table will do the job and probably rattle a bit.
My price point is about $200. +- and will look for the best reviews in that price range.
Have not made a decision yet.

My $80 Rough Country table from Amazon has been completely rattle free for a year. I recommend this option for anyone trying to cheap out like I did. I don't put anything really heavy on the table, but I use it regularly and have experienced no issues at all.
