I Have a question regarding the battery voltage.
Is the voltage shown on the dash a correct voltage or not?
When the vehicle is turned off the voltage is 12.3 volt, when it is running and driving it is 13.7-13.8 volt (the past summer it was 14.1-14.2). My batteries were replaced 2 years ago but since two weeks I noticed that the start/stop does not engage anymore. The previous battery change was done because of that, but I think it is to early to change the battery after only 2 years. Do you guys think I should change the batteries or do I have another problem?

Yes, those reading are accurate. What brand and type of battery did you replaced the old battery with?

They are? I thought there were whole threads about how to read those dash readings and how they actually come about given the IBS and two battery setup.

I’m trying to find that one thread that explained it in depth including the interpretations but for the love of me it doesn’t come up now.

With the engine running your dash display is showing the variable voltage of the charging system not specifically the state of charge of your battery. I don’t believe the battery voltage shown on the dash with the engine off is considered the most accurate measurement, I’m not familiar with the Night Eagle edition wrangler you have. Does your Jeep have the auto start stop function? Does it have a small 12 volt auxillary battery in the front fender area or underneath the main 12 volt battery In the engine compartment?

Yep, the night eagle is just a trim (black wheels, mirrors, grille and fog light). Under the hiid it is just a sahara 2.2 multijet diesel built in 2020

So it’s a non-U.S. vehicle and still has auto stop start and a main and auxiliary battery? Interesting.

Has the start stop completely quit? Is it showing an error on the dash about it? Has the weather gotten really cold and its keeping the ASS system from working due to that?

Could this be the one? I haven't gone through it in depth.

Also this one ... several links on this topic.

Oops, I guess I must have misspoke or flat don't know shit. Yep, the Voltmeter on the dash and the actual battery voltage are not the same. The actual difference between the voltmeter on the dash and my multimeter is approx. 2%. Yep, that is a huge difference and no way near of being accurate.

And this is with the engine not running. With the engine running, it is still about 2% difference between the voltmeter on the dash and the multimeter.

C'Mon, seriously!

I think the crux being “engine not running”. Again, don’t quote me on it, but the dash gives you a combined system output. It can’t tell you where your aux vs. your main is at. Also, 2% can be the difference between battery dead, and battery not dead. anyway - I don’t mean to offend you by doubting your measuring skills. I’m just saying that dash number has some interpretation to it.

Full 12v batteries would actually be 12.6v in perfect world, with each of the 6 cells being 2.1 each.

There is a lose somewhere on these things, even charging ours dont charge at 14+ like every car I've owned, both ours have a running voltage at 13.2.

Main Battery Only, I separated the aux battery from the main battery when I took the readings from the main battery
