I’m currently running zero mods on my ‘21 JLURD when it comes to the engine and/or computer. I’m a little confused on the products that Banks has to offer. It seems folks recommend the iDash, Derringer and Pedal Monster.

Two questions:

Are all three applications necessary? If not, which ones should be prioritized for HP/TQ improvement and visibility to behind the scene operating health?

when Installing, how do you keep the wiring clean to maintain stock appearance?

All three are not necessary. If you just want HP/TQ and monitoring capability, get the Derringer and iDash. The Pedal Monster just gets rid of that pedal lag, it is nice to have but not needed. I got the Pedal Monster and Derringer when they had a special going, I had carried the iDash over from a GMC2500. It's easy to keep the wiring tucked into the left side area under the dash. When you open your door you'll see the small cover to remove and run cables. Then take off your grab handle and fish it up to the visor area. The driver side visor won't be very usable this way but I never use mine.

You need an iDash to control the Pedal Monster and Derringer. So you'll have that regardless. It's a good way to track a few things in real time.

The Pedal Monster reduces pedal lag. It can't eliminate turbo lag but it makes the Jeep feel more responsive. It cuts the dead time between pushing the pedal and having the engine respond. Of the two, it is the easy one to notice.

The Derringer has 6 levels of performance from stock (1) to highest (6). I did some experimenting and came to the conclusion that going from 1 to 6 is something you can feel but only if you're paying close attention. I didn't measure any 0-60 times but I bet there is a measurable improvement.


The good thing about the Banks system is that you can add stuff one piece at a time. You have to start with the iDash or whatever is the up level version of that. Plug it in and start monitoring everything you want.

After that you can buy the Pedal Monster and/or Derringer without having to buy another iDash. Just get them and plug them in.

Or you can buy all 3 and install them all at the same time.

Wiring is easy to conceal in a Jeep. Once you decide where to put the iDash you can figure out how to pull the trim pieces to run the wire. Ost of the other stuff tucks up under the dash and is out of sight.

Ironically, the Pedal Monster feels more impactful than the Derringer even though the PM does absolutely NOTHING for actual performance (versus the Derringer, which dropped my 0-60 by exactly one second). That said, the seat-of-the-pants sensation of the PM is more profound. Forum members will state that they can do the same thing by varying the pressure with their right foot. And...they can, if they have the disipline to modulate their foot for every moment that they're driving.

I'd buy the PM first (you can control it with an app), the iDash second (so you can moniter DPFs, temperatures, boost, etc...), and the Derringer third. With the Derringer you cross over the line to possible warranty cancelation on your drivetrain. But, it can be removed/reinstalled for dealer visits.

Go for it and buy the complete combo - it pulls like a freight train.

This is all great feedback. I think I’m going to go right to the PM as that’ll be a quick and cost effective way to receive noticeable throttle improvement. I also like how I can upgrade to the iDash and/or Derringer later down the road.

I had my pedalmonster disconnected a couple weeks ago, pedal was mushy feeling after months of having the pedalmonster. Is an improvement I feel right away from OEM pedal. I would have the derringer but didn't want to deal with the install.

Install of the Derringer is pretty easy. Reaching disconnecting the stock, uh connectors is a little PITA, but it’s a worthwhile mod.

I like how all the Banks stuff integrates with each other, so I kept it homogeneous.

You’ll enjoy the combo. If you think that it’s torquey now, just wait. The included cables are plenty long enough.
