I have the Derringer/PedalMonster/iDash, and I like Bank's products, but their air intake will perform like all other CAIs - bling plus sound, but NO power increases. Not worth it imo.

I installed the derringer a few weeks ago. It’s good I was worried about the pedal monster. I’ve “ heard “ that it interferes with the gear changes on the diesel and that you don’t want all that high rpm’s on a diesel ?

I haven't had that issue with my PedalMonster; the shifting seems fine although the low/midrange torque is so impressive that I rarely redline it. Truly the best reason for installing a PM is to get rid of the just-off-idle lag. If you haven't noticed that lag you won't need the PM.

Yep. In the last 20 years or so, air intakes from the factory are about as good as you're going to get for air flow. But they look cool at a car show.

Interesting. And as far as the lag the derringer seems to take care of that and I normally cruise

I get it. Coming from 25+ year of engine building and turbo application. Large air filter make a big difference ,
On stock motors. You may feel an easier take off , smooth pickup. Not on all cars. For turbo applications they make a slight difference as well. Besides the beautiful turbo whistle and being able to resume the air filter multiple times. ie washing

Agree, similar to the fact that 85% of Rubicon owners will never use the electronic swaybar disconnect or E lockers. But they love that Rubicon bling batching on the hood while they cruise the pavement. While a Sahara would suit them so much better and save them money.

Not to mention the residual oil that finds its way down stream past where the original airbox once set. Now bringing in more hot engine compartment air rather than the outside air coming through the oem air flow designed grill and fender intake

I skip the washable air filter myself. I've seen too much evidence of fine grit that makes it through on engines. A few bucks every other oil change for a filter that blocks more grit is better to me than the 0.1 second or less I might gain on a Jeep that doesn't drag race.

Where is the evidence of dirt passing oiled media?

Not picking a fight, I'm genuinely curious. I've only used washables on all my vehicles
