I'm going to get some Micky Baja Boss A/T (35x12.5R17) installed in the next few days. (2019 2 door Rubicon)
I'm hearing that some folks are having trouble getting them balanced or having to use a lot of weight.

I have read that alot of guys use beads in the bigger tires (37 & 40") how about on 35".

Thought?
Is this a good or bad idea??
How much beards would you try in a 35" tire.

Besides adding some extra weight any other down sides to using them...

My Baja Bosses road force balanced great. Much better than the KO2s I had previously.

Same here - no problem road force balancing and the weights stay put (running 37's). I've heard mixed reviews on beads. If they get some moisture I heard they can clump and cause vibrations.

I had beads in my 35x12.5x17 ko2 tires and they worked great until I started airing down and up with my portable compressor which puts a lot more moisture in the tires than a shop compressor. The beads started clumping and shaking the tires and I had to take them out and go with regular balancing. So if you don’t air down you will probably be alright but if you do I would probably go the conventional method.

I have 13k miles on my 35s and balance beads. No issues at this time. Used 8oz per tire.

37 k02s with balance beads. Like with 15oz but your rims also affect the weight.

They ran nice with the beads.

I'm running 39s with no beads and friends run 40s with none. The tall sidewalls soak up any vibrations. They run ok at 65mph.

Enough not to bother balancing.

I just got some new sticky 40s. I'm not going to balance them.

I am very skeptical if anybody says they have a hard time balancing Mickey Thompson tires. I mean there could be a manufacturing fault that's the problem but Mickey Thompson will shave tires to make them round if they come out of the mold out of round before they leave the plant. Mickey Thompson has pretty rigorous QC and if you do have a problem balancing one of their tires you need to get a hold of them so they can get it replaced for you. They have pretty good customer service. I mean I trust their QC a lot more than I trust pretty much anybody else's. I mean when you are a small specialty tire company you can have higher standards than the big players that's just a fact.

i had no problem getting my Mickey BB M/T 35s balanced, though one of the 5 did require a good deal more lead than the others.
never had to test their customer service, but i would expect Cooper (the owner of the Mickey Thompson brand) to be top tier.

i didn't use beads in mine though i had excellent results using beads in my motorcycles for ~80K miles. i currently use a liquid balancing sealant in the moto (to help with flat prevention) that works on the same Dynamic Balancing principle.
not sure i'd want to use beads with a TPMS system yet, but i need to look into if i want different valve stems/cores.
if i did i would use whatever qty/weight the manufacturer recommended again. don't think i'd worry about moisture clumping if i used a major high-density product like Dynabeards.

Balance beads are complete garbage.

My best balancing method with 35” or 37” tires has been having the tires balanced with traditional stick-on weights then adding 4 oz of copper coated steel BB’s in each tire.
I did that with my previous LJ on 35’s, current JL on 35’s then now on 37’s.
Zero issues and all ran 100% smooth regardless of speed.
Only negative is when the Jeep comes to a stop I can hear the BB’s falling. Very small trade-off for perfectly balanced tires in my opinion.

Not a fan of beads-had them on a motorcycle years ago and did not like them. That said, if NEW tires won’t balance I’d not be taking them home. That’s a mfgr error and they should make it right.
