I have a 2023 2 door Willys Sport is there any way to lock the rear seat so only the seat back folds forward. Unlocking the latch folds the whole seat forward then it flops back and forth. Thanks in advance.

There are straps on the back of the seat that can be used through the rings in the b pillar to hold it in place when folded forward. Not as tight as you’d like, but will prevent “flopping”.

Yep, that's almost always how I have it configured. The rear seat flipped all the way up and forward held in place with the straps wrapped through the B-piller loop on the passenger side. Works great. Or at least it used to.

Unfortunately, the last time I latched it down to actually use the rear seat, I can no longer unlatch it again. I can fold the seat down but no longer will it rotate forward. It now remains latched with no obvious way to free it. This is so frustrating. I can not find any way whatsoever to unlatch it to rotate forward (to even just flop).

My 2019 is out of warranty now but no way of conceivably getting the rear seat working again. Made an appointment with the dealership. Argh.

No matter what you do, be careful with it. I did nothing out of the ordinary. I've really enjoyed all the space with the rear seat either folded up or completely removed. I'm wondering what I've done wrong or even how it's now going to be fixed.

Perhaps removing the clamps from underneath the vehicle? I'm at a total loss of how to get this thing unstuck.

Fred on Dirt Daily had the same issue on his, the video on it isn’t super specific but shows he had to go in from the side of the seats to reach the latch. He basically destroyed the seat but I don’t think he had any intention of keeping it, there’s undoubtedly a way taking more care to do it.
in the end I’m sure you’ll find the cable has broken or come off it’s hook, had the same issue in my Grand Cherokee when I bought it but thankfully found a way to release it without causing damage and replaced the cable.

Yeah, it sounds like a cable issue. There is a procedure in the service manual.
